@@Aducky9291 im talking moreso about the things from season 2 that a lot of fans think contradicts the original show Spoilers below A lot of fans of the original take issue with the lion turtles granting the elemental powers because they think it contradicts the "original bender" animals, because they cant comprehend that being able to control an element doesnt make you a bender, same way having a sword doesnt make you a swordsman.
It's very much people not getting this. That and many people will forgive Aang the things they bully Korra over, a non insignificant part of that lady bit is bigotry. @@ZeallustImmortal
This show takes place 70 years after the original series, Aang was 12 in the original, Korra is 17 right now, meaning Aang died 17 years ago at the age of 66
In my personal opinion one of the biggest issues that a few of the LoK detractors have with the show is that they basically wanted ATLA again, instead of something new and different, and when they didn't get that and saw some of the good *and* bad that came from the Gaang's decisions in their lives, they decided to declare the show bad. This isn't everyone's critique by any means (and LoK does have some flaws, to be sure) but that's what a fair amount of the responses I've seen have boiled down to. One of the biggest recurring "problems" or frustrations with LoK as a show is that the studio kept trying to force certain restrictions or decisions onto the writers. Many of the biggest, most glaring problems with the show season to season or overall can be directed right back to their interference. They aren't the cause of all of the things that could be validly critiqued but they definitely had a hand in a number of them.
With them given their own studio, I wonder if decisions they make are less restricted and if deadlines aren’t as tight. I really want to see them try to absolutely give it their all with their own choices.
This show is in my opinion an amazing show, and honestly I hope you don't take others opinion to account because as many others I watched this show with an open mind and I really enjoyed it. as much as last airbender is iconic this show has a special place in my heart. And I think you'll really enjoy it too! 😄 There's alot of people like myself who truly loves this show but alot of others don't love it just because it's not aang and hate just for stupid reasons imo.
Fun fact: Katara & Aang's kids' names are all references Bumi - obviously King Bumi Kya - Katara's mother's name (it was also Katara's original name in the pilot) Tenzin - alongside Aang's airbending master, is named for the irl Dalai Lama: Tenzin Gyatso
Thanxxx for your reaction! You are one of the few who understood clearly Korra's personality from the start and it's refreshing to hear it. Also, she will grow a lot in the anime/cartoon. Many people wanted a Aang 2.0, what's the point??? We love Kyoshi because she's not Aang; so, why do people expect Korra to be another Aang???
Still remember watching this when it released every week, season 3 is my favorite followed closely by season 4, season 2 is my least favorite but the creators did their best after Nickelodeon ordered a surprise second season, so take that into consideration while watching it, this show was only supposed to be a 1 season mini series.
There is a comic run exploring the story of Zuko's Mom. If you can't find or read it, you can watch it on a channel here on TH-cam called MovieFlame. He uploads various videos breaking down the shows and movies. Don't worry, he puts spoiler warnings on every video.
I think LoK is pretty similar in quality to ATLA. Definitely better animation and music. I would argue season 1 of LoK is better than season 1 of ATLA, largely because in that first season they were very much finding their feet and figuring out what the show would be long-term, and the story there was pretty meandering with the "challenge of the week" format. LoK has it's issues, but for the most part I think it's on par with the original. Honestly can't wait for you to dive into this show! If anything, Korra suffered from production issues and the creators not knowing if they'd get a next season.
So much of the hate this show gets is completely unfair honestly. It's not as objectively perfect as atla was, but it's MORE than a worthy addition to the story.
I think the Korra series started off strong.. but as they introduce too many forgettable characters and start to lose track of what to do to them, seriously weakened the series overall.

ATLA was about a person learning to be the Avatar. Korra is about an Avatar learning to be a person.
True
Korra series deserves more love and i’m glad it’s finally getting it
The reason why people hate it is because they want it to be the same as ATLA

TLOK takes place 70 years after ATLA. Korra is 17 in Book 1. Yes, Naga is a polar-bear-dog.
I’m so glad you popped back into my feed. So excited for you to watch LOK!
You're in for a pretty awesome show, Each season has its own great moments, but S3 is the best. Stick it out!

Korra is my favorite series. Here’s to your new subscriber! 🎉
U should read the comic : Avatar: The Last Airbender - The Search, to know what happened with Zuko's mom. Sorry it's the only way.

ATLA starts 2005 and ends 2008, TLOK starts 2012 and ends 2014
Also, the one and only thing that i truly HATE about this show is that we never realy get to experience grown Sokka
