- Getting organized and cleaning up our new POP. We have all 3 owners out on a big cable pulling day. Setting up for 12,000 ft starting in the middle right through the town of Princess Anne, MD.
Using our excavator to do most of the pulling except for a few locations. 92 degrees and 80% humidity so impossible to have fun on day 1.
They made Kirk stop wearing corduroy pants because they kept lighting on fire.
@redbull what's up?
Former OSP Planning engineer. I put in quite a few of those back in the day for POTS and DS-1's Filled the bays with ATT SLC-5
I'm so sad to say I just put it all into a dumpster
it was right there on the thing it was for some kind of microwave relay
Looks like a slum with those telephone poles in the sidewalks.
Still installing 66 blocks at least on a monthly basis here in California..
I'll put in a few 66s a year at most but your clearly not installing DSL on those blocks I hope! Thanks for watching
good to see you out there cranking away - you should get a nice break from the sun and some much needed rain for a few days. always remember by installing fiber you are literally changing people's lives for the better and the impact for small biz is even greater! v positive work you are engaged in - you should get some interns and new hires (thoroughly vetted of course) and start having more people learn the skills - it sure ain't simple or easy but with enough reps. math and network skills pretty much anybody can learn how to do it, they have to want to of course and believe in the mission. think about starting up a referral system if you don't have one already - people will jump on board and word of mouth/unconventional sales can work wonders. when you have time please do an update on wifi plans/protocols/repeaters etc
We are slowly hiring folks it's just a hard place for talent compared to more metro areas. In the very begining we looked at some of the air fiber and long range microwave stuff but nixed it all out. We just provide customers with a normal wifi AP.
Yipee, new brice perdue content!
Haha thanks buddy
woo hooo !!!Nice!
Thanks for watching buddy waiting on that unbox
You gonna make a video when you get your Princess Anne pop moved over? Curious if you are gonna make any physical network changes when you move from one site to another. Keep'em coming Brice!!
We will be changing the fiber path completely. There are 4 live fibers in that POP. 2 Muxes, 1 Demux, and 1 GPON to another part of town that is leased. The only changes will be at layer 0\1. Nothing will be changed further up the stack just physically moving the equipment and powering it back on.
Still out here killing it Brice. I think about your offer to move up to MD and run fiber quite often. If you ever require any extra sysadmin help, shoot me a message bud. vmware, hyperv, proxmox, whatever your flavor.
We just did 3 miles i'm being told we have another 3 mile project to do so get on up here.
Thanks again for another video! Your friendly NOC tech has moved on to another datacenter! Wish you the best of luck!
Haha you gota hit me up on skype when your bored!
I want to like the videos, but I don't think I can handle any more "um"s, "uh"s, or sniffles.
Fair feedback. um's is when i'm thinking, uh's is when i'm really thinking or pulling outa my ass. Sniffles is just been sick for a bit. Seth did buy me a microphone that works with us I just gota get it all figured out this weekend. Thanks for watching anyway!
