    When the King of topwater fishing makes a video about frog tips, you better believe I am going to be glued to the screen and taking notes! Amazing video man, thanks for putting a video like this together. You taught me a bunch and im sure experienced and unexperienced anglers will learn from this.

    Nice. I'll keep working that frog. I totally agree with getting excited when you finally get a blow up. I must have casted 30+ times(working a slower presentation) before it happened. I missed it but this video gave me the confidence to want to keep throwing it. Thank You!

    I set the hook on a slackline 90% of the time when I'm throwing a frog. My hook-up ratio has skyrocketed since I started slackline hook setting. I'm definitely not saying you are wrong, just that there is more than one way to do this. Love all your videos!

    Finally, an non-sponsored(I've order via Bama Frogs.SO I Sponsor you) yet highly respected Angler stating that you can go as low as 30-pound braid for your frogs! Anglers who make a living from sponsors can't say that you may get away with less than 65-Pound braid when throwing a frog in ANY condition. THANK YOU BamaBass! The Yellowfin Tuna fishermen laugh at Largemouth Bass Anglers' using upward of 30 pound braid for a fish so incredibly smaller -- And Rightly so. The structure is very different, and so is the fish, but not over #30, braid, ans definitely not #65! We have no excuses, nor do the Calico guys.

    i started frog fishing last fall for pretty much the first time (i sometimes used frogs before that but rarely). sprinker frogs and bigfoot scum frogs are just my favorite thing ever. the bigfoot frog is like those ribbit ones, but a hollow body frog. i've caught SO MANY BASS pullin' these things steadily across water/pond gunk/pads/etc. i've also missed SO MANY BASS, too. this year i switched to a 7 foot medium heavy rod and instead of catching 1 out of 5 "catchable" bites, i'm catching 3 out of 5 on bad days. with that kind of frog they just miss it or don't get a good hit on it a lot of times. i do live in ohio, so we aren't getting massive down-south-size-bass, so i'm sure that contributes to it too. but...yeah. frog fishin' is just the best. i know i'd catch more if i used my 2nd pole for things other than frogs, BUT I CAN'T BRING MYSELF TO DO IT.

    it's amazing how few people like to bounce baits from limbs. it's my favorite way to get fish to bite. I have found that if a fish is anywhere in the neighborhood, it can't help but strike. cool to see other people use it too.

    A tip from a magician, we do this to make 'invisible' thread less visible, and it works on braid. Take a black sharpie and color 1/2" lengths of the braid from the lure about 1-2' up the line about 1/2-1" apart. It breaks up the line's visibility. Some fishermen color a solid section of line, but I find dashing the color gets more bites.
    It's an old magician's trick, and ime it's gotten me a lot more hits on topwater in open water with braid.

    Mono or braid is all about preference. I personally fish all my hollow body frogs with 50lb power pro braid and I've caught bass anywhere from open water to the thick stuff. Great Video BamaBass and don't forget the black marker!

    • @jeremiahgiles3593
      @jeremiahgiles3593 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been told 50 is too light and 65 is the minimum for this type of fishing. I already have 50 on my reel, but do you ever end up having issues where 65 would be better?

    • @TheSteelerfan20
      @TheSteelerfan20 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I personally have never had a problem with 50lb braid. The only times that my braid would break is if I wrapped it around a log or thick branch multiple times, and I doubt 65lb braid could save anyone from that situation. I'd say give that 50lb braid a try and see how it works for you. If it doesn't fulfill your fishing needs, swap that stuff out and upgrade. Whatever you decide to do will only benefit you in making your own preference. Good luck and rip some lips!

    One time when fishing from a Boat, I saw what looked like a giant ceramic frog (Lawn decorative type) 5' up a steep bank. I fired a cast at it with a Rapala, to point it out to my friend. I almost hit it and when I yanked the lure back towards the water, it snagged the frogs foot. The thing jumped in and splashed like a bowling ball. Drag was pumping off my spinning reel. I got it in and it was a 4-5# BullFrog. It was massive! It took two hands to grab it's back and the legs were 18" long. It was like holding a baby. When we were leaving, we set it on the ground. It jumped 10' then crashed brutally in the dirt, 3 times, before finally hitting the water. That frog and a 5# Bluegill, are the only times I've considered having something mounted. I regret not doing so now.

    I fully agree with you on your line size 15 or 17 lb mono is plenty strong enough for frog fishing even in thick cover. All these pro's brain wash everyone into thinking you need expensive braid but it's just product pushing.

      @cornsnakesplayairsof 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've tried everything from braid to mono anything under 60lb will rather snap on the hook set or snap stretch to much if its mono or fluorocarbon that's why I stick with 80 lb braid

    LOL!!! And I thought that I was the only one with a frog fetish! I caught the biggest bass of my life, an 8-pounder (it would have easily gone 10, but it was in a tiny pond with very little forage... it was a little skinny) with a white Sumo Frog. Believe it or not, I used an ultralight rod/spinning reel combo, spooled with #10 test black braid. I actually caught the same fish on a tiny Rapala Popper a week later on the same rig! YOU CANNOT BREAK BRAID, PERIOD.

    • @123789timothy
      @123789timothy 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Trust me you can break braid it's not that hard. I had the pleasure of taking a trip down to lake okeechobee with a friend and just for kicks tried flipping with 20lb braid. I must have broke off almost every other hook set. It costed me $45 in tungsten weights before i gave up and threw the 65lb back on.

    great vid for the kids, especially. the rod lengths are very important as well, for beginners. (of course you had to remind me of my favorite dream @ 4:50!) I personally would like to see you do a vid on fishing rip-rap, in the same manner as here. we have a lot of it here, and always do well with numbers, but not size? (primarily smallmouth). thanks, and you have come a LONG WAY, my friend!

    Frogged at my pond earlier in the spring after watching this video, helped a lot! hanging the frog over a tree limb killed it! 2 hogs!

    Take a black magic marker, color about 1ft of the line starting at the lure, let dry, and fish for the big ones!.
