Outstanding video Avi! Very well presented, detailed, yet easy to follow. I love Synology’s implementation of firewall rules. Very straight forward and simple to setup. I wish more vendors would follow this simple format and be less cryptic. I do agree with you the ability to create firewall groups would be a welcome addition to SRM. Thanks again for the great content!

Thank yoy Tony. I appreciate you watching and thank you for the kind words! I want to remind you that i am looking forward for the part 2 video of the house wiring video you did not too long ago

@@TechMeOut5 hey Avi, so here’s the deal with doing a Part 2 follow up to the wiring video. We don’t go back to install the gear until construction is complete and the homeowner takes possession of the home. This could be anywhere from 6-8 months, maybe longer, from the time we did the pre-wire. While I would love to do a follow up, it’s predicated on whether or not the owner will grant permission to film in their home. Only time will tell.

Loved the video, Avi! I still haven't used a Synology router but I need to get my hands on one!

Hello, thanks for the great video. One question: it would be better set for the two first rules (ICMP bloking and GeoIP filtering) to ALL on destination interface instead of just Internet?

Really well done video. What rules would you have if you had no VLANs on a small home network with a couple of NAS's ? By analyzing what you did here, I've just put in a few Geo blocks following yours. And you're right; I'm watching the hit count increase before my eyes. So for the score is : Russia 31, China 6, Iran 0, North Korea 0. All in about 15 minutes.

One question I have is firewall rules and VLANs. Do I need to set up rules so that my router is able to talk to my managed switch?
