Handmade Band Saw Made of Wood. One Month in 23 Minutes!

I made a band saw out of wood. The frame is made of plywood, the table is made of board and plywood, the wheels (diameter 400 mm) are made of MDF. The maximum cutting height is 230 mm.

Absolutely brilliant build. Goes to show what you can do even when you don’t have loads of fancy tools. I’m confident there is a lot more that never made it into the video and a huge amount of work.
Would be interesting to know how many birch ply sheets were used in the whole build, and how the ply blade guides are holding up.

You will likely have to back the tension off this after uses, to keep the whole body from bending/deforming. Is that true?

If you make a wood bandsaw, you still need aluminum wheels. The Achilles heel of wooden bandsaws are the wooden wheels. They will warp. If not from the high pressures put on them, then from moisture and such. You’re so much better off with aluminum wheels.

using a homemade wooden bandsaw since 10 years now. Wheels are made of MDF but varnished of course. The wheels are still straight as on day one!
