Here in America this called the poor man’s tri 5 do you understand how many people would love to have a tri5 conversion. Me personally I don’t care what the title says . Most working class people can not afford a true tri 5 but with what you do , maybe some can. Thank you Dan
It is good to watch and interesting videos but if you took a car like that on the road here in the UK the cops would pull you over and they would find so many safety issues wrong with the car (seats and steering column for starters) that you would end up with a really hefty fine and likely enough points on your licence to keep you off the road for at least a year.
"I just want to put my foot to the floor and blaze the tires as long as a fricking want" Dan from DD Speed Shop Now that alone deserves a like and a comment. hahahahaha
Dan thank you for telling us the prices of these parts it sure helps those of us planning and budgeting our own projects, I've been saving aluminum cans for a few years now almost have enough to get that Edelbrock carburetor 😅
When I boosted the 5.3 in my Camaro the engine had so many miles the ring gap was perfect already lol. The one issue I ran into was the factory valve springs. It had a built in rev limiter at like 5k rpm because it would float the valves so badly. Doing springs on those engines is easy and like you said, worst case you have to swing a motor in it. Looking forward to watching this build, gonna be a good one!
Dan please please with all the work that you’ve doing on this car make it look as good as the 57 convertible that you did. This car deserves to have a decent paint job and looks good for ls fest. Don’t let you subscriber down. Please do what this car deserves.
First time I used that windshield glue I put the tube in hot water for an hour stuff came out pretty good I ended up with it all over my back window inside and out took me 2 days to clean up the mess.Dan the 56 will be a cool car when you are done .you and Dani have a Great day
Man, YOU BOTH ARE SO COOL 😎. I love 💕 that you both are so fun! I also love that Dan is the Canadian Hillbilly of his neighborhood. Waving at your neighbors while riding your Jalopy, all rusty, squeaky, and awesome 👍. I am that guy too and love every minute of it! Sometimes get the funny looks, aaahhh heaven! I'm all yahoo down the road 🛣️. Anyway, thanks for the video 📸.
Back in 77 my friend had a 56 with 427 turbo 400 black top silver gray bottom from. Chrome line in middle it was a bad ass cruiser very perry car super fast
You could use windshield ribbon tape next time thats what was used way back when in the 70s and 60s to hold stationary windows works good to take up the voids and not mess as long as you are going on metal that has some paint on it you are good to go. Great job love the channel
You do so many of these two-door conversions I’d trace the factory glass on a piece of hardboard or plexi with a couple of finger holes in it to make the trial and error fitting a bit easier.
I've run my SBE un-ring gapped 5.3 with 10 lbs of boost for almost two years. And its my daily. Just be sure to be conservative with the timing, and you'll be mint. If you are going to do anything, even the blue ls6 valve springs are a great valve float prevention.
Hey Dan keep up the work a good buddy of mine out in ontario has a 57' 210 wagon that he just did a twin turbo setup on his small block thing looks killer
I’ve been watching you for so long now man. I just checked your videos and it’s before you deleted the old stuff on your channel. You were just a kid when you started
I know you weren't planning to, but valve springs, bigger injectors and either the COPO oil pump spring or shim the oil pump spring will help keep that motor alive and it will be way more fun. It will blow the valves closed with beat stock springs. I'm really looking forward to seeing your face when you roll into boost. You thought you liked blowers, just wait😆
I need to get me one of those little 4-71 under hood blowers for my gasser truck! Keep up the hotrod building ! Mine rattles a little but I thought that’s what ratrods were supposed to do !🤷♂️
i suggest...just because ive seen it before, to upgrade the valve springs. adding boost to the stock configuration will cause valve float early and you will drop a valve or eat a piston when it coil binds and loses the locks. also, go to the junkyard and get a set of truck injectors and decap them. they will do 80 lb per hour
That takes a lot of time on something that most people won’t be super interest in watching on an engine he likely doesn’t care much about. Would be different if he was building up this engine specifically for boost and maximum performance and not just for fun.
I think you did great on that car. You got it cheap and it appears real solid and not a rust bucket. Now you are putting speed in the speed shop. I totally understand, sometimes you want a car to burn tires for a full city block from light to light. Getting big tires that stick and chirp the whole distance on a car built to go faster is cool but that car wont grab the attention and give off the show a tire roaster car will. Hearing tires squealing long distances is what hot rod shops are known for and they usually have a particular car built for it. My tire roaster used to be a 71 Ranchero I built but I sold it to thin the fleet. My 67 Skylark stands in for that when wanted but it is to nice to do much of that in. Can’t remember how many years since I did that or drifted in it. I live in the woods and can do burnouts or test hits but I don’t want to crack that car up or hit a deer. None of my other cars are tire roaster material. You make me want to get a new old rough but safe and solid tire burner for my hot rod shop. Love the channel and your old cars. Way to go building what you want the way you want. You are doing it right. You two are a great couple, I always like the humor you create.
Somewhere there is a guy in Manitoba sitting around his shrine to DD Speed Shop which consists of a full jerrycan of gasoline and a cardboard box full of brand new rad caps
HEY DAN!! Get a seal kit for that new master cylinder they are bound to sell one in town somewhere, just pop off the circlip and check the bores...its probs a bit of swarf from the manufacture has ripped the seals or something. It'll be piss easy for you.
That is the perfect car to have straight axle front and lift the back to almost level , like 2 inches lower , the old style ribbed sidewall cheater slicks, you know OLD SCHOOL 60'S VIBE

Very cool Dan - always enjoy that you’re doing something new, on the periphery of your comfort and skill set. I have a lot more to go, but for a guy like you who knows a lot, it’s cool to see you push it. 90% of the channels plateau cause they are staying too far into their comfort zone
getting a project done in the field before winter hits... was +5 yesterday now zero degrees today but feels like a drop in 15 degrees, and that's because it is a drop of 15 degrees Fahrenheit. 30 degrees more to drop and the ground starts to freeze. the snow is returning to Alberta once again.
ok.. i got an idea: each turbo will have it's own exhaust, blow-off outlet and turbo outlet... the back will make a ton of heat.. bad for tri five engine bay... use a little more tubing and put the turbos IN the wheel-well area.. then cover the turbos with good solid heat shielding.. almost like 'false-inner fenders' ... this will simplify your cold side piping, it will not only drop engine compartment temps, it will also help cool turbos.. guard the turbos with oil coolers on input side, lowering inlet oil pressure, cooling it and also.. out the way... i saw a similar setup on day one os death week.. sick seconds tom bailey's coverage
@Dan I'm buying Corbeau Racing Seats for my El Camino because they make affordable seats for the bigger people people like us. They also sell brackets for almost every vehicle.
The twins should put some pep in its step, more power will help weed out the weak links in the old rattle trap. What makes everything better, More Power!!!!!! until it makes some things worse.
Blowers and turbo's oh my, admire how your always challenging yourself with new hurdles and projects, always learning as you go. Gives us newbs a blueprint and tips when we try... Side note-- could you do a two door to four door conversion lol jkjk
One thing I've learned about turbos is that you have to have a bigger gap in the piston rings. I guess the rings expand more. Just watching those shows like Road Kill and stuff on TH-cam.
Just an FYI there is a primer you're supposed to put on the glass that etches it and allows the urethane to bond to an etch surface in the future you might want to use it otherwise I've had Windows pop out on me learn this the hard way ask me how I know
When you take the oil pan off, change the o-ring that goes between the oil pump pick-up tube and the oil pump. When they get old it will suck air right there instead of oil?
I like the rotten banana the car has potential to be a decent ride although I would at least prime the car one color. Other then that just get it running the best you can with what you got and put a set of wheels on it and enjoy it..
Hello Guys, I think you should forge the engine, change the camshaft, so that it supports the power of the turbos, and also perhaps install a manual transmission if the idea is to race on circuits... greetings from Argentina.....
I would ditch the idea with the brown doors. I get the idea with the weathered as it is look but that is just ugly. Why bother making it a two door if it still looks four-door-ish? Throw some of the yellowish high build primer on it sides then it will look OK
Dan, it’s all good with the go😮fast technology you’re adding but WHY do you want to drive a car that looks like sh*t? Spend another $50 and put a cheap flat black paint job on it! Use a roller if you have to. Anything will look better!

Yeah thr motor is the easy part
Make sure you run braces from the front of the block up to the turbo or in about 6 months your headers are going to be cracking
The car is a bucket of bolts but the nut behind the wheel is hilarious. Kudos to the funny, patient and sweet camera operator!
