Ben I think the bigger issue is how deep the corruption goes, the company that fitted the cladding were boasting about how they influenced the government to recreate safety regulations so that their cladding could be used and that similar cladding is still attached to other tower blocks and has not been removed due to a lack of funds...
Fair point but its not simply a 'Tory' issue and i'm sick of idiots putting this all on May. Unfortunately the entertainment industry is filled with socialists who don't have the first clue about politics and sadly are drawing young people in because of their influence.
The cladding of tower blocks began under the Blair government whose Decent Homes Initiative, which demanded that 95 per cent of social housing be brought up to specified insulation standards by 2010 but which failed to lay down adequate fire standards. It was a Liberal-Democrat controlled Southwark Council carried out the renovations at Lakanal House, Camberwell, where new external panels were blamed for the spread of a fire which killed 6 people in 2009.
My point is that you can't pin this all on one party and the constant desire to throw more and more money at something isn't the solution. I agree there is so much corruption in the government but what is comical is that people seem to think it doesn't span across all parties.
At this current time, it is a Tory issue as they are in power and they are not addressing the fact that there is still flammable cladding on other tower blocks. A government of any party should have amended such hazards within weeks. I see no harm in the entertainment industry inspiring people to question and challenge injustice. There are artists who go into the politics in more detail such as Akala and Lowkey, but they do not gain the same population, so I think it is better that artists spread the message with less complexity to a larger audience, it is the individuals responsibility to look into it in further detail from then on...
Yes the cladding began under the Blair government and no conscious person would argue that any party has no blame in any of the social and economic problems of today, but in there lies the problem. I respect your knowledge on how and why the cladding was/is used and appreciate it is no individual governments fault and perhaps using May as the sole focus was wrong, but unless you use a figure most people recognise you run the risk of not connecting at all with people.
Again I understand and agree throwing money at something isn't the solution to the entirety of the problem but a lack of money for funding the removal and replacement of remaining cladding is a problem. I do disagree that it is comical that people seem to think it doesn't span across all parties and think that rather than it being comical it just highlights that people don't have the full knowledge about government corruption and how deep it goes. This is where people who do understand the complexity (such as yourself) should help educate others and not do counterproductive things like calling someone who is actually helping reveal the corruption to some extent a chavy, clueless, lefty cunt. These comments only create further divisions in society.
