Well done, the only comparison of ETD Criterion and Warners, on TH-cam. Very Pro video, too, Stripey. Agree, there's more grain on Criterion, but we must be due a 50th 4K UHD.
Hi mate, Great set up.Great image. I have a SONY 4K UHD, 55 inch and it has a superb image. (I am a SONY fan for years) Sometimes it is like sitting in a cinema at home, the only thing missing is popcorn. Enjoy watching the Bruce Lee videos. Take care and stay safe, mate.
Cheers mate I'm pleased with the set up. Sony do make nice stuff no doubt. I'm loving 4K (late starter) at the moment. I'm binging on Bruce at the mo (and loving it) U 2 take care my friend.
This is what I was looking for recently. I was able to take screenshots and compare. The criterion looks the best. The others are too dark and the 2013 version cuts off a bit of the original frame. Great job! Thanks. Now I know the best version.
Yes, I loved the theatrical cut of Enter the Dragon on the criterion collection blu-ray. I wish criterion could also release each movie individually, would love to a criterion Enter the dragon by itself, but other then that I love the bruce lee criterion box set.
You and I have the same Blu Ray Player!!! It is AWESOME 👏 Glad To know you also have the Criterion Bruce Lee Collection!!! IT IS GREAT 👍. A little late commenting on this video but I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT !!!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍👏
Nice ramble Stripey , glad you are pleased with the results . I've got a Sony Blu Ray hooked up to my AV 5.1 . Watched a few films but tend to use it to play The Beatles in surround , Sgt Pepper , White album , Abbey road sound mind blowing , as does Dark Side of the Moon and War of the worlds . Your Sony will play SACD as well ! Nice to see you so enthusiastic about your films mate , we can still find enjoyment even in these times 👍 Take care all there , keep well 🙋♂️
Cheers David mate, I'm pleased. Your set up sounds awesome, I have heard Darkside special audio surround sound, it's an experience indeed. stay safe fella
I bought the 4K Arrow set last year not realising I'd need a 4K DVD player - more expenditure! Ah well! I still remember boring my wife by watching my 1993 Christmas present - The Legendary Bruce Lee Collection VHS PAL (six videos In a red case) - over the Festive break 😂 There's a set on eBay right now (01/05/2024) for £20. I'm a bit tempted, but I think I'd better pass on it 😂 I thought it might interest you though.
Did you notice upon watching the theatrical print of Enter, there is a final sound affect punch as Bolo dies, which they forgot to include on the special edition? I always preferred the theatrical print myself & felt it was tighter than the special edition. Cheers for sharing the upload!!
Cheers Gal, I didn't notice (I'll keep an eye out next view). Like I said, any Bruce Lee video is worth having but I think it breaks the flow. thanks for watching pal
defo worth getting the HMV boxset..has great cover art with a thick cardboard glossy finish..although the disc is blank without picture art..you get some nice bits and bobs
I’ve been looking at that exact Sony player but according to online reviews it lacks HDR10+. Does that matter when it comes to 4K discs or is it essential? Also 3D TVs are very few & far between now. Could I attach the Sony VR set in to the 4K player & be able to watch 3D movies? Great video & I absolutely love Bruce Lee & a huge Hong Kong Cinema fan.
Love your videos, always enjoyable.May I ask how your new 4K blu ray player is doing.I only ask because in the market for one and all the reviews I have seen mention the Sony players freezing.Haven’t seen any new reviews and was wondering if the problem may have been fixed with a firmware update. Thanks again Kevin.
Cheers Kevin, I heard about the freezing when looking for a player, but so far so good. mine had the latest updates already, so maybe a firmware update has fixed the issue. Thanks Pal
@@StripeyR Thanks mate will try to find it. I'm a massive bruce lee fan have been since I first see him like 40 years ago bruce was special no one like him .keep up the great work you channel is brilliant very professional BUT more bruce lee please. Ha ha take care my man
All the Bruce Lee movies were Originally recorded in Mono so that is how they should be not in some other new redone sounds added .....which I try to avoid seeing these in these forms it should be. The added redone sound are for those who who have updated equipment ......but is not for me I'm afraid.
Sadly, there’s only so much that can be done with an old film print… the grain, for starters. Remove too much and the picture goes soft. All three suffer from ‘black crushing’, too, where details in dark areas disappear. I assume this is a fault in the original negative. Is the Criterion mastered from a print or a neg, do you know?
@@StripeyR Well, the set contains 4K digital restorations of The Big Boss, Fist of Fury, The Way of the Dragon and Game of Death, along with a 2K restoration of the 99-minute 1973 theatrical version of Enter the Dragon. Not sure about the source material for most of the films but The Big Boss is from the original 35mm negative, so that should look excellent. Not sure why Enter the Dragon is only 2K… odd! Will you buy it again when it comes out on 4K? I’m betting you will…
@@GrumpyOldGit60 I probably will, like I said in the video, in 2023 ETD turns 50. I've not checked out the Big Boss yet but I've heard good things. cheers pal

By the way, I also bought the Criterion Box when it was on offer....then, had to buy a multi-region player to watch it. Collector's Mentality ha !
