God - how I love her. To have had such a stunning voice - and to have used it for comedy - just knocks me out. Her 1965 recording of "Climb Every Mountain" is the best version of that song I've ever heard. It just soars. In all her interviews and appearances - she is so gracious (but still very funny) - she truly is a national living treasure, and should be protected at all costs. 💖

You have to be a VERY VERY VERY GOOD actress to do AND comedy AND sing badly on purpose at the same time... She's just marvelous... a lot of people seem to forget she's won Tonys and Baftas and all kinds of prestigious awards a stage-actress can possibly win and has been around since the 1950's... Just ADORE this lady...

It’s cool though she proved you don’t have to be young to accomplish something new. She reached a whole new generation because of her legendary comedy skills on that show. She is simply amazing, I really really wish they would have did more episodes, it was such a perfect ensemble of actors, even the guest ones like Mrs Fortescue and Councillor nugent were amazing. Patricia kind of reminds me of Bea Arthur on the golden girls. Bea had a long and legendary career too and also brought something new to the table at an age when most people are done. I still watch repeats of both those shows when I feel nostalgic.
What about the phenomenal monologues she performed by Alan Bennett !!!! Very serious acting. She didn't only do comical stage and tv-work. Hetty Waintropp (TV series)was also serious and an enormous contrast with Keeping up App. Very wisely chosen by her after the Hyacinth-period. She also played in the Search of the Bronte Sisters and read Wuthering Heights (audiobook) , played in a TV-film about Hildegard of Bingen and 101 other things. Her LP with easy listening songs (when very young) already showed her singing qualities, although this album is non-classical. She was so all-round, cann't think of a lady with such a fan of different artistic qualities. And that is said by a Dutchman! As you see, we also followed her from the continent. Bless her!

After the fifth, final and last season of the classic television sitcom Keeping Up Appearances, she portrayed Heddie Wynthrop, an amateur detective for two seasons. It was a very good show! I wish that Keeping Up Appearances had lasted at least three more seasons. It would have been fun to meet Richard Bucket's family! Patricia Routledge decided to end the classic television sitcom Keeping Up Appearances because she didn't want people to tire of it! She sang in Leonard Bernstein's ill-fated "1600 Pennsylvania Avenue"on Broadway playing 8 First Ladies. you can still hear what a solid technique Patricia had. Victor Borge would have loved her.

To be talented is not a blessing it is the result of very hard work , to be talented and yet remain humble about it and not talk about the hard work, not even let it show , is the mark of a real artist. But being extremely talented , not brag about it, remain humble , never mention the hard work AND on top of that joke about it and make a fool of oneself deliberately while clowning about , is the mark of a goddess . This lady is the epitome of class . Every artist could learn from her, starting with merryl streep who is immensely talented but could use a little humility and quit the bullshit false modesty .

So much talent in one person: superb singer, excellent actor, funny, lovely speaking voice. A former colleague of mine, a part-time actor, worked on Keeping Up Appearances and told me what a really nice person Dame Patricia is. Truly a national treasure. They do not come better.

Its now January 2014 and once again the New Years Honours list had nothing for this multi-talented lady who has been entertaining us for over 50 years. Yet Angela Lansbury who hasn't even lived in the UK for most of her adult life gets made a Dame. The establishment should be hanging it's head in shame.

So much talent in one person: superb singer, excellent actor, funny, lovely speaking voice. A former colleague of mine, a part-time actor, worked on Keeping Up Appearances and told me what a really nice person Dame Patricia is. Truly a national treasure. They do not come better.

Its now January 2014 and once again the New Years Honours list had nothing for this multi-talented lady who has been entertaining us for over 50 years. Yet Angela Lansbury who hasn't even lived in the UK for most of her adult life gets made a Dame. The establishment should be hanging it's head in shame.

I was lucky enough to see her in that role, must be getting on for 20 years ago. Also as Mrs Malaprop in The Rivals. Utterly superb and delightful lady.
Dame Patricia played many roles on the stage, straight, comical and musical. she is now in her nineties but can look back on a long and successful career. we, ourselves, can enjoy her in her many guises. You were lucky to see her on stage. Thank you for sharing.
