I’ve been with mine since 16 years old (42) years and can never quite get over that hurt from years ago… even though he is the most amazing husband now and has asked forgiveness many times,and we never bring it up. I don’t know how to not let my mind revisit the hurt I felt back then. Listening to Shane has really got me thinking about how I can truly hand it to God. You are both amazing people.! For Shane to have come through his childhood without resentment and extreme anxiety the way he has is remarkable. The two of you going through such turmoil and clinging to each other rather than running from each other is a true love story. Relationships are not easy and they are all the more difficult when both have childhood trauma. Im 50 years old and didnt have running water until i became an adult and lived on my own at the age of about 20. We had electricity but no water or in door plumbing. It makes you appreciate every little thing as a blessed person now. I sent myself threw school, became a CNA then an LPN (@30) and then an RN. (@43) I still struggle with the embarrassment of growing up the way i did. you both are amazing and i love that you love jesus
I have to say, Shane told his story as if it were in my own words. I have a very similar story from childhood to marriage. Shane it takes guts to tell a story like you've lived. My mom recently found her Dad after being told he was dead for 55 yrs. She had a very traumatic childhood but always remained on task looking for him. Next week she is on a flight to meet her dad. God is amazing. You two look madly in love and it's beautiful thank you for being so real and raw ❤

@@6611 God is always watching over all His children. We, as humans, don’t always feel it because we want things our way and we want to be in control. God doesn’t work that way. We have to give everything to God and believe in Him that he will give us the desires of our heart. It isn’t always easy but in you put all your faith in Him, God will take care of us.

Thanks for sharing something so personal and hard I am sure. Can you believe the way some of us grew up in such sad broken homes and hearts? And the blessing God has blessed y'alls with in the end. PURE MIRACLE!! Some times I think about my childhood and I would have been better off being raised by wolfs (NO JOKE) and I have to remind myself all of those years were horrible, yes! but what a blessing I have now with 7 kids and a wonderful husband. Hope this helps someone who is struggling because it may not seem like it in the moment, but things WILL get better. ❤

Can I say that everyone makes mistakes, and marrying so young as you both did, leaves room for the changes that come as you get older and mature. Knowing the errors and making the changes necessary to make it work are part of getting older and are truly a sign of the love Shane has for Merina. Also, learning what you’re doing isn’t likely the right thing and changing your path takes a lot of guts and maturity. Forgiveness is hard to do sometimes, but there are times when it’s worth the effort, hurt and uncertainty that comes with it. Also, it’s screamingly obvious how much you both truly love each other! Makes it all worth it I have no doubt. ❤

As a parent I can’t even imagine how hard it had to be for his mom to have to make the decision to leave your child alone or not be able to work to provide for that child. We are now 76 and 79 years of age. We will celebrate 60 years of marriage with 4 wonderful children, 4 grandchildren and 1 great grand son. I have to say, Shane told his story as if it were in my own words. I have a very similar story from childhood to marriage. Shane it takes guts to tell a story like you've lived. God works in mysterious ways. My wife and I are proof of his work as well. Thank you for being an open book to both of you! My wife watches EVERY video and I can't help but sit down and listen. I have found someone who has lived my story

My mom recently found her Dad after being told he was dead for 55 yrs. She had a very traumatic childhood but always remained on task looking for him. Next week she is on a flight to meet her dad. God is amazing. You two look madly in love and it's beautiful thank you for being so real and raw ❤

@@6611 God is always watching over all His children. We, as humans, don’t always feel it because we want things our way and we want to be in control. God doesn’t work that way. We have to give everything to God and believe in Him that he will give us the desires of our heart. It isn’t always easy but in you put all your faith in Him, God will take care of us.
Moved to tears listening to this precious man pouring his heart out. So very much was relatable. I too have a marriage with many ups and downs. I do still have struggles, and I ask for forgiveness everyday, give thanks everyday, but still find myself in turmoil some days. Can you believe the way some of us grew up in such sad broken homes and hearts? And the blessing God has blessed y'alls with in the end. PURE MIRACLE!! Some times I think about my childhood and I would have been better off being raised by wolfs (NO JOKE) and I have to remind myself all of those years were horrible, yes! but what a blessing I have now with 7 kids and a wonderful husband. Hope this helps someone who is struggling because it may not seem like it in the moment, but things WILL get better. ❤
You really do learn so much from your trauma. Shane is the opposite of every flaw in his childhood now and he always says he wouldn’t hVe learned those lessons if it had never happen 🥺❤️
Thanks so much for sharing! It honestly helps feel like I’m watching friends, instead of strangers on TH-cam, while I watch your videos. Can I say that everyone makes mistakes, and marrying so young as you both did, leaves room for the changes that come as you get older and mature. Knowing the errors and making the changes necessary to make it work are part of getting older and are truly a sign of the love Shane has for Merina. Also, learning what you’re doing isn’t likely the right thing and changing your path takes a lot of guts and maturity. Forgiveness is hard to do sometimes, but there are times when it’s worth the effort, hurt and uncertainty that comes with it. Also, it’s screamingly obvious how much you both truly love each other! Makes it all worth it I have no doubt. ❤

As a parent I can’t even imagine how hard it had to be for his mom to have to make the decision to leave your child alone or not be able to work to provide for that child. Both sides of this story breaks my heart. I feel for Shane and his mother deeply. I have to just trust that if God brought you to it then it was definitely part of his plan. God bless all involved.

He is a baby Christian. I didn’t tell him why I was sending him the video, just that it was an amazing testimony. What an awesome reality!! Loved hearing your story and the way God brought yall through it. You gave ALL the glory to Jesus!!! That was the best part. Our story began at 16 and 19 years of age. We are now 76 and 79 years of age. We will celebrate 60 years of marriage with 4 wonderful children, 4 grandchildren and 1 great grand son. God has and continues to hold us in his loving arms..Praise his name!!!
