Man, every time he picks up the instrument he blows my mind! Which part of the medley was ya'lls favorite?

One thing of note with how he plays the bass line is that when he was growing up and listening to music on the radio, he thought the bass and guitar were the same instrument, so he taught himself to play both lines as he didn't know any different.
The guitar he uses (his guitar of choice) is an Australian made Maton from Melbourne. They even make a 'T.E series' in honour of Tommy Emmanuel. They even inlay CGP on the fret board in honour of Chet Atkins bestowing Tommy the title of 'Certified Guitar Player'. It's built 'to his specifications so you know the neck is pretty 'srong'!

Oh wow! That’s so interesting and makes sense how he developed that approach! Thanks for sharing!

    2nd song when i'm 64. Don't know? Lady Madonna.
As a kid, without mtv, he learned to play by ear from records. Not knowing how many instruments were used, he tried to do them all on one guitar, including baass and percussion.

Man, props to reacting to Emmanuel. He's in that guitarist's guitarist realm. And it's so cool that you recognize and appreciate what he's doing technically. That dude just hit an whole next level.

Another part of Tommy’s musical expertise is that he was also a percussionist in his early years. He was with John Farnham’s band back then. If you watch his later video “Tommy Emmanuel Windy and Warm/ Classical Gas” there’s an excellent part when he used his guitar to play a percussion solo in Classical Gas. The channel is Music City Roots and it goes for 5:27 mins. PS. Two more great Australian guitarists who were with John Farnham’s band for over 20 years are Brett Garsed and the late Stuart Fraser. They play together on Brett’s YT channel and also on one of the best performances I’ve ever heard where most of John’s great musicians play RnB solos on “That’s What Love Will Make You Do LIVE 2000”. The channel is FreeTheRocks and it plays for 5:45 mins. Enjoy! 😊 PS. You’ll notice that Stuart Fraser uses his left thumb just like Tommy does.
