    about how to make cloud-free imagery, check this tutorial : th-cam.com/video/TQkPa2JHLeI/w-d-xo.html
    if you curious about how to perform similar task using Sentinel-2 Imagery , check this out : th-cam.com/video/G7-YfrLrfjA/w-d-xo.html

    Thank you for the tutorial.
    Can you please make a follow up tutorial on how to apply the fmask result for cloud removal using ArcMap?
    Thank you very much.

      Okay, will do that

    This is a very helpful tutorial. I also watched your other tutorial on how to remove clouds using the conditional operator. However, it's not quite clear how I'll be able to use the dat file from fmask in order to remove the clouds. From what I understand, you still have to use a tool to manually identify the values for cloud removal. Can you please provide brief steps on how to use the dat file for cloud removal? Thank you very much!

      Thank you for the compliment, yes actually you can use those two tutorial to make the cloud removal less painful.
      Seems I should make a follow up tutorial about how to apply the fmask result for cloud removal, just stay tuned

    Thank you for the video. If I want to open the created file in QGIS, should I make any change on file's extension?

    • @GEO2004
      @GEO2004  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      the envi hdr format is not supported in qgis by default, you should convert the result first to GeoTIFF or other common raster format before using it in QGIS. If you dont have any access to commercial software, you can do the conversion using ESA SNAP software, or else ArcGIS, Global Mapper, ENVI or any other software can do that

    is it possible to mask the shadow of the mountains or hills in a Landsat satellite imagery?

    • @GEO2004
      @GEO2004  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely, I think fmask is also masking the mountain shadow, if it isnt, you can check idepix masking implemented in esa snap software, I also have made tutorial about it

    Will this version of Fmask work on Sentinel images?

    • @GEO2004
      @GEO2004  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will, but the performance is not very good due to the absence of thermal bands in sentinel-2, for sentinel-2, I suggest to try sen2cor

    For Landsat 8 images, it is giving me this error:
    "Error using readtif>parse_args (line 108)
    Unrecognized parameter name 'LC08_L1TP_137044_20180309_20180320_01_T1_B2.TIF.ovr'." Please tell me how can I solve this.
    Thank you.

      @GEO2004  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh you should delete or move the ovr files prior to masking, because those files generated by arcgis and thats change the folder structure

      @@farahnusrat5639 the problem now is in your memory, maybe you have so many apps running in your computer at same time, either in the background or foreground. I suggest to kill the memory demanding apps first. That error might be also caused by your memory/RAM size is too low for this kind of processing

      This link might be helpful tonolab.cis.ibaraki.ac.jp/ASTER/cloud/ , either way you can identify the clouds manually using image tresholding or conditional operator like I demonstrate in my other video, looks at the other comment, I provide the link there
