- Molly and I headed up to the Iowa Ag Expo in Des Moines for a day, well a short day with the ice storm coming to check out some farm machinery.
"The Iowa Ag Expo will inspire you with the biggest names and newest innovations in agriculture. With more than 700 exhibitors spanning 7.25 acres, the Iowa Ag Expo is the third largest indoor ag show in the country-and it’s right in your backyard!"
Get the first look at a new CAT skid loader, a Vermeer baler, new holland baler and many other nice looking pieces of farm equipment.

NICE WORK!
Great video kids. Thanks for taking us along to the farm show. Have a great weekend and stay safe.
Thanks Steve!
I worked in the industry for 40+ years and have been retired for 11. I still enjoy seeing the changes year over year. Thanks for sharing your perspectives.
It’s always good to hear from someone with that much experience!
I enjoy your videos. It is a bit late but you would really enjoy the National farm machinery show this coming week at Louisville ky. If you have never been there you would be surprised at the size of it take your walking shoes
Another great video. So happy to see you and Molly..
Glad you enjoyed it!
Good show.
The wrap hunt continues!
Hi Ben. I have ran lots of different skid steers over the years , kubota has the best door and they are stable but short on power ,Cat and case are light in the back end . John Deere and New Holland are the best boom and most stable but they need the Kobota door . moving slow on work around people the Bob cat was very jerky . some time it is just what a guy preference is .
I’d have to see what the power difference is on the machines. It’s hard to believe because up until recently most of them ran Kubota engines if I’m not mistaken.
@@iowANFarmer The Deere I ran was 333D had JD. engine , I think the New Holland I ran had a Yanmar engine . But the Kubota s are stable and the door is nice .
The skid steer with a mulcher would be a blast to try!
Someday I'd like to own one. But the Kubota I have can't run one at this time. I'd need to get a high flow machine.
I would like to get one and start my own business. But need lots of $$$
Is there a good market for it in your area?
Modern agriculture at its finest
Neat to see the machines they come out with.
Don't know about a yield bump but makes for nice smooth combining and not having to worry about rocks when you roll the beans
we don't have a rock problem here. I can see how it would make a nice cut for the header.
That cat skid would be real nice to go behind the brush mower 😂😂
Or a mulcher!
@@iowANFarmer that too!
Nice video
Thank you!
Sandwich made me hungry 🇺🇸🗽🚜👌
Love some JJ
We went to the show that same day. We arrived about the same time that you left. I have a video on the show here on the channel.
Did the ice hit Des Moines?
@@iowANFarmerit got a little icy down there. But it got worse on the way home.
Ez cut works great. We have 2!
That’s awesome! We are going to get a lot of use out of this one I hope!
@@iowANFarmer chem companies give them away in the uk.
@ really? I got finagled out of $35
On that John Deere quad yes that is the rapid fuel system
Learning something new!
Saw you talking to a rep at a booth that day.
Should have said hello!
@iowANFarmer didn't want to interrupt
That side dealio is the fast fuel system, I wish I remeber the speed it fills but it's mega fast
Do you need a special nurse tank?
@@iowANFarmer If im not mistaken ( and i could be ) you just need the fast fill nozzle and a large capacity pump. I believe you can run up to 150gpm to these bad boys and fill in no time 😂
@ probably makes a fleet of them running scrapers at fuel time very attractive
@@iowANFarmerIt would make life easier in everyway for sure! Even just our 5 4wd and 18 8100s could be filled with two trucks with 1000gallon trailers in a heartbeat 😂
The only real changes on the CAT skids is the lift arm design, horse power, and the drive motors. Cab is the same other than a few comfort creatures. She is a hoss. Especially running mulcher with forestry package. It will run circles around your bota.
It looks like a completely different machine! My Kubota is 11 model years old now, it be interesting to compare changes over 10 years.
Rolling soybeans here in ontario ,canada helps with our yields ben.cheers
what kind of yield increase are you looking at with rolling the soybeans?
We tried a couple spots rolling beans didn’t see a yield bump but it could have been the year
Did they cut nicer?
Not sure my boss runs the combine I think he said it was a little better we have a Macdon head really like it
MacDon 👍👍👍
Coming to Louisville next wk sir, only 8 1/2 hrs 😂😢. Sorry MOLLY!
we are considering it.
@@iowANFarmer Yep only about 45 minutes for me ,spoiled I am for sure!!👍. Thanks again!
What dont you like about the green balers? Kind of funny i dont own any green tractors or combine, but my cutters and balers are green for a reason. . .
I don’t have anything against them. But the people I’ve talked to about balers are saying red or yellow.
The 568 - 569s were the king of the block from what I remember.
@iowANFarmer The new ones are even better. When the 0 series came out they had a few issue's. The gate tollarance, density block, and net roll were the biggest. All them problems have been fixed. I have baled 10s of thousands of bales with deere balers, if you ever have questions on them let me know. Do you happen to know if vermeer changed thier pickup? I tried to run one for my second baler a few years ago and had to rebuild the pickup every 2500 to 3000 bales? That was on a Super M.
Yes, the N series shuts the pickup off when sending wrap.
I’d like to see the Deere with the ramps over the kicker?
The other thing about the Deere is how friendly are they in terms of monitors without any green star displays
@iowANFarmer I prefer the kicker over the ramp because you have way more control in the hills. They used to break a lot of springs, but that was fixed with bigger springs on the zero series.
I have always used the bale monitors that came with the balers. The 9 premium series for sure, and I believe the 0R series can be run on any isobus screen such as agleader. As far as the 1 series, I will know more once mine arrives this spring.
I hope to put out alot of content on the technology with opps center on the baler this year. Really excited to see how the yeild maps and intergraded preservative applicator with exact apply works.
Easy Cut got one like it.
I’m excited to try it out.
Id love to run one of them 9rx 830 John Deeres 👊💪💪💪
I’d like to see it running from the cab as well!
I purchased 2 of them in July of 2024,waiting for them to arrive on the farm
@ hopefully they show up soon. Won’t be long until it’s time for work!
And then you have this guy…I buy the stuff that was featured in these types of shows 20-30 years ago. Old iron is good iron.
I’m with ya!
Ben if you ever get a chance check out the asv posi tracks they are monsters and over built. I believe they have the highest lifting cap. Back yrs ago they were the 1st 100hp skidsteer.
Andrew runs a CAT with those tracks - they seem very complicated compared to the Kubota. However, it seems like people that run mulchers like them…
Deere 💯
I can see the hecho in Mexico on every green think there
you need a new af 11 ih and a new 715 quad track
Put them on the Christmas list! But I’d honestly take some land for the same $$$
We roll are soybeans every year and yes better yield because you can cut on the ground with no worries about rocks getting picked up by the head of the combine
What if you don’t have a rock problem?
I did see an article that there was a yield increase but it was rolling beans after they emerged. Nobody I know around here is brave enough to try that, timing is critical and whether doesn’t cooperate
Is Ben trying to make Molly look bigger than she really is?
No, Molly is just a standard size of measurement. Metric, Standard, Molly.
You better buy molly a better dinner than jimmy johns if you want her to buy you a new combine.
$35.00 Big spender. ...Just messing with ya Ben.....Thanks for the video's....
It’s $35 for some plastic and a blade.
Tell Molly it technically isn’t a buddy or passenger seat. It is training seat. You’re technically not suppose to have passengers in tractor with you.
Agreed. You’re also technically not supposed to use q-tips to clean your ears.
Everyone knows having a meal brought to you during planting season and riding along is a very nice gesture during planting season. So let’s make buddy sears comfortable!
Did Molly actually hear you calling her your employee lol?
Yes lol
Molly is a brave trooper! Probably happy to be anywhere to have a change of scenery ...... but .. but bored as s..t ... most women don't care about tire size, gears, bale size, etc..... just saying....
She enjoys the shows to a certain point.
And half of the shit they have on new equipment you don't need if you run the old equipment until it doesn't work anymore because the new junk doesn't last as long as the old equipment
And your point is?
@@kirklothert3435I would make the intelligent guess that he is saying don’t buy the new junk….
Hinges are the weak point of bigger equipment, if cat hasn’t changed their skid steers, the belly pan isn’t bolted on, they will fill up with fine plant dust and self set fires that melt the plastic fuel tank and dump all your fuel, I’m surprised the two I know about didn’t burn to the ground, no warranty on that for whatever excuse!!!
I wonder if the machines need the strength of one piece? A removable belly pan would be nice.
Buy Milwaukee
I’m dewalt currently. Nothing against Milwaukee
So am I, I also work for Stanley Blacken Decker now, formally MTD outdoor products, I’ve learned they don’t care about quality, their employees or the USA. Just the Dei ways…just food for thought Ben
