      It's quite clear in Con Air that Garland Greene experiences a moment of shakabuku with that little girl's tea party and is a reformed character at the end. My fanfic sequel to Con Air has a Greene copycat that ends up bringing Buscemi, Tommy Lee Jones, John Cusack, and Harrison Ford into a mashup of Fugitive and Con Air to find the real killer.

    The Truman Show’s ending is darker than it seems. Truman may have left the dome and entered the real world, but he is still the most recognizable person on Earth. He will never have a normal life. He will be followed and photographed and hounded everywhere he goes. The only money he can make is from either writing books and doing interviews about the world he just escaped, or by suing the makers of his show for what he would be owed both from profits and them robbing him of a real life. The mental toll the experience would have on Truman is likely to cause severe anxiety, depression and possibly suicide.

    • @heathermillsphantomlimb9314
      @heathermillsphantomlimb9314 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +16

      He’d have Sylvia, though. She could help him acclimate to the real world. He’d also be able to afford private security and isolate himself as much as possible, since he’d be entitled to any royalties and residuals made from the show. In reality, the creators and actors in the show would’ve been arrested ten times over for kidnapping, false imprisonment, and impersonating law enforcement officers. There’s so much wrong legally in that movie that it wouldn’t be possible to ever pull off. But, a trained monkey would be able to win Truman enough money to never have to work again and go anywhere on earth he wanted. He’d definitely have a lot of hurdles to jump through, but there’s worse ways to live.

    I hated, hated, hated the ending of the first Kingsman movie.
    Billions of people all over the globe maimed and slaughtered each other, including their CHILDREN!!!
    All of the world's leaders and elite are dead, so nobody is in charge to handle the aftermath.
    There would be worldwide chaos for years, maybe decades.
    BBBUUUTTTTT...
    Don't worry about that. Here is Eggsy having booty bumping with a Princess (who doesn't yet know her whole family is dead). Then let's take a fun revenge stroll to the pub. Somehow... all is right with the world.

    The ending of 2012 was FAR more stupid than that. The whole premise of the idiotic movie is that the nature of neutrinos has changed (impossible), and instead of being massless particles, they have "evolved" (!) so that they interact with matter and heat up the planet. Then after a few days, they just, what? De-evolve back into their former state? An evolution that, if we even put aside the impossibility of it for a moment, happened once in 14 billion years, and then happened again a week later? It was an incredibly stupid movie that should never have been made.
    Although it did lead to the funny bit in Dara O'Briain's stand-up show pointing out this ludicrousness, so I guess we've got that to be thankful for.

    You left out the obvious one. The Truman Show. Truman leaves the domed world where everyone is an actor supporting his existence. He is now in the real world where billions of people think they know him and are his friend. Safe to assume the "Bank of Seahaven" isn't real and Truman has no actual money, or place to live once the set of the show has been shuttered. How long will it take for his "true love" that he knew for less than a day gets tired of an unemployed, broke man who is constantly hounded by the entire world wanting something from him. Will he have the skills to capitalize in this fame or be used for everyone else's gain while he ends up destitute. Even if he can be compensated by the producers that f'ed his life, how long will the money last. Will he have the skills to avoid being taken. And the psychological issues he will have adjusting to the real world, knowing nothing he remembers of his past is real. Not sure his "freedom" is a happy ending.

    I will add Bruce Willis' movie "Surrogates." At the end of the movie, his character deactivates all the surrogates, so that "people will be forced to leave their homes and interact in person." Except that most adults have surrogates doing their jobs. So, all the planes being flown by surrogate plots will crash, as will all the trains and busses, including school busses full of children, because child surrogates are illegal, so kids don't have them to go to school in their place. Also, all emergency vehicles will stop, including ambulances taking human patients to the hospital. Speaking of hospitals, all the surrogate doctors working on human patients will stop mid-operation. Even those surrogates that stop without causing deaths will be an issue, as the roads will be filled with an endless traffic jam of vehicles whose drivers stopped. It will take months to clear them out, during which time no food will be delivered, emergency services will be unable to respond, and utilities will be unable to be run. In addition, all the surrogate police and soldiers will shut down, leaving their weapons and other hardware easy pickings for criminals who either cannot afford a surrogate, or don't have one to avoid being traced, as well as enemy troops and terrorists getting their hands on advances US weapons. So, Bruce's character basically shut down human civilization because he felt lonely.

    Independence Day:
    Yay, we defeated the aliens.
    All the major cities in every part of the world - gone (if not burned to a crisp they lay flattened under a humongous alien saucer).
    Hundreds of millions, probably billions of people - gone.
    Most of mankinds cultural achievements (arts, architecture, historical buildings, historical documents etc.) - gone.
    The political structure to organize the time after defeating the aliens - gone.
    The economic base to rebuild - gone.
    That's not how I envision a victory.

    No one wants to talk about Fight Club. (Don't say it.) At the end a half dozen sky scrapers are collapsed. Only a few deaths but this is essentially a 9-11 level event. A thousand investigators, local and federal, will descend and search for the perps. Marla, the Narrator and the other members of the club are in deep trouble.
    Return of the Jedi. A moon sized space station is blown up in orbit. Huge metal chunks will rain down on Endor for weeks or months. Endor is doomed as these will cause massive calamity and global winter for years.
    Same with Independence Day.,

    I hate 2012 with a burning passion. The film failed to convince me that I should root for the main family specifically while the entire world died (and most other survivors would be rich jerks). There was nothing special, interesting or compelling about the leads, and it was just about their survival. Contrast that to the same director's Independence Day. There we have multiple arcs to follow, those characters are charismatic, they come from different backgrounds, and while they are also trying to survive, they are trying to get others to survive as well. And because those people are inspirational, we care about them, we root for them. Even in The Day After Tomorroy, which is not a good film by any measure, we see the leads invested in doing good. 2012 is too grim and cynical for such a dumb movie. If it's about the lava, the waves and the absurd stunts, then make it fun. Leave the darkness for those who know how to properly convey it (hey, I love Melancholia).

    The scene discussed here on the Kingsman reminds me of X2 United where William Stryker and then Mystique and Magneto make Professor Xavier use the Cerebro to attempt killing all of the mutants and then all the ordinary humans and all of the accidental deaths it would cause as both mutants and ordinary humans doing crucial and dangerous jobs suddenly become temporarily debilitated for several minutes.

    • @Dargonhuman
      @Dargonhuman 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Doesn't even have to be a crucial or dangerous job - just the amount of people driving on the highways or through neighborhoods that suddenly couldn't control their vehicles for several minutes would be disastrous on a large scale alone, and that would be on top of the crucial and dangerous jobs that would cause even more disaster.

She was previously saved from drowning and certain death on her 14th birthday using an experimental method for rebuilding dead brain tissue. If Virginia is found guilty of Anne's murders, not only is she doomed but likely the brain rebuilding procedure, too. "Did this procedure cause Virginia to go insane and go on a murderous rampage?" The one that struck me recently after rewatching Raiders of the lost ark, is this: They could easily have forgone a lot of the hardships by just letting the Nazis have the Ark. It was always going to kill them as soon as they opened it. So they could have just followed Belloq until he opened it and then just took it. Better still, if they'd just made sure to kill Belloq after the Ark was found, Deitrich would have taken it to Berlin and it may well have been opened in front of Hitler. His face melting off in 1936 would have saved millions of lives.....

Her son, Christopher, is a spoiled brat who faces no accountability for his actions. On top of that, he'll probably get away with killing Linda because he used the original killer's knife and the police wouldn't be able to establish a motive for this murder. He probably also wouldn't be stupid enough to leave the knife handle unwiped afterwards. The killer was an enraged Malcolm who was actually insane but we have no way of knowing if he was insane before being sent to the insane asylum.

    Since you asked my favourite Shyamalan film is The Village. It gets a lot of flack but I don’t really understand why. The “Night Twist” was the only one I genuinely didn’t see coming and it’s one of a few films that uses jump scares well. The acting, framing and cinematography in his films are always top notch. He’s clearly never going to be Hitchcock, who he’s clearly emulating, but you can’t say he shoots a film badly. His success/fail rate is probably about 1.5 in 10 but when he does land it he does in a big way. Unbreakable and The Village are good films. The rest are either disposable, nonsense, or insultingly bad (or all of the above). But all of his films do look good (except The Last Airbender and After Earth, that look like shit. I haven’t checked IMDb to see whether he changed cinematographer or anything but even if he didn’t that guy was having a bad day on those)
