Spiritualized is the only band that scratches a very very specific itch for me. It's bluesy, it's psychedelic, it's intoxicating, it's both controlled and unhinged - organised chaos.
Blues, R'n'R, Gospel, Garage, Free Jazz, Doo Wop, Soul, Folk, 20th Century, Space, Drone, Psych, Alt, Big Band, Scores, Chamber... This man has always had an incredible blender in his creative kitchen.
YES ! From his novel "SCHLACHTHOF 5" (in English "Slaughterhouse-5"). Which talks about the destruction of the town of Dresden during the 2nd WorldWar. And Spiritualized published these two Albums in a reversed chronology. First came "& Nothing Hurts", then came "Everything was beautiful". Both albums being kind of the record of the year when they got published.
Been listening to Spiritualized for around 4 months, am happy with what I have discovered, thus far, "The Mainline Song" stands out for me. However, its a Great Album!
I know the feeling. It is sometimes good to take a break from bands. Classic Radio has worn out so many songs. I love Pink Floyd, but I can only listen to Money live. 🤔🤗🤗🤗
A complete masterpiece top to bottom! It was an honor to purchase this music for our library. We all wish you'd play the western US though - it would be a great reason to burn some bubblegum and embrace a great outdoor experience up here in the mountains!
Probably the only reviewer that will go out on a limb and say it's a perfect five; (do you agree?) "The Best Thing You Never Had" blew me away with its mystical, almost Beatlesque sound and pulsating beat. I know I get hit pretty hard for being so positive on my reviews, but seriously, why should I spend my time ripping bad albums a new a-hole, when there is so much good music out today? Spiritualized had always been a favorite of mine. I think the addition of a horn section gives it an extra edge also. Maybe this is one of the best "shoegaze/psyche" albums of the year. Spiritualized is an English space rock band formed in 1990 in Rugby, Warwickshire by Jason Pierce (often known as J. Spaceman), formerly of Spacemen 3. As of 2022, Spiritualized have released nine studio albums. The best known and most critically acclaimed of these is 1997's "Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space", (which was my personal favorite until now). Hope you'll get a chance to hear a free version in HD on TH-cam before they pull it also. Cheers and Pax, Murf
Crazy's not for me probably because it's a little more country than I'm used to but damn this whole album sounds pretty. Everything has this clarity of a day in late August. Maybe also the type of album you'd listen to on the 4th of July. Just a very solid and refreshing sound from spiritualized 👌
Indeed, having heard to this Album 3 times in a row now => Wonderful and one of the best (until now) of 2022. Jason Pierce is the Astronaut looking out for unknown pleasures in the infinite space ! COUNTRY'n'WESTERN-GOSPEL-PSYCHEDELIC-SOUL BLUES MUSIC ...
If what we see as visual here is supposed to present the real Cover, it's a reminiscence to their 1st one "LADIES & GENTLEMEN ...". And judging by this 1st Song, that might musically also be the case. GREAT § WONDERFUL § Jason Pierce is a pharaonic phantom ! An astronaut of the sheer beauty !

Such a fine album. It feels like a real renaissance. Mainline Song makes me feel youthful again. They knocked it out of the park in Toronto 👍
Thanks for everything, Spaceman. We'll keep floating in space

good old j. spaceman opens with a song most bands would end with. gutsy-pretty move, mate. love this VERY underrated LP.
Love the trombone on second song it works well
