29:04 I was an '80s kid. In the early '90s, I had fellow high school teens wishing they were in the '60s and '70s. I hated it. Now I'm simultaneously amused and sickened when the nostalgia turns to the age I grew up in.
Austin Powers (the Movie) literally killed the Bond series when it launched, by pointing out and making fun of spy movies cliche. since we're rebooting Bond with a new actor, and Austin Powers movies has been gone almost as long as Austin was frozen in the 1st movie, perhaps we could have a buddy spy movies with a classic Bond and Powers character-type.
For years I could rattle off Dr. Evil's therapy monologue without even thinking. This movie was a victim of its own success. People quoted it so often that we all collectively got tired of it by the time Goldmember came out.
I have to admit, I lost a little respect for Mike Myers when I found out the falling out he had with Dana Carvey was over Myers stealing Carveys Lorne Micheals impression for Dr. Evil wholesale. Like, those impressions all all over where Michaels has worked (the executive character Mark Mckinney of the Kids in the Hall plays is one, for instance) but people have said there are certain aspects to it that were all Carveys takes and no credit was even discussed. They've made up since and it was kind of an open secret Myers wasn't the easiest to work with, but still, that's not a great look Mike.
Best DR EVIL impression😂😂😂😂 love Austin powers one of the best movies ever

As far as I can tell, there is no consensus about which of the three movies is the best. Each one has people who call it their favorirte.
Even if the third one is the least funny, they’re all entertaining
You had me at the air quoted "Altaf" lmao. Ok now I'll watch the rest of the pod hehe
These movies really do hold up. So quotable. Keep up the groovy discussions, dudes.👍😜🍻
Oh I've been waiting for this one
Wait no further!! :D
Overall, great episode. one note: next time please avoid slurping directly into the mic
Altaf, my guy. The slurping is brutal.
