Hello sir, My son is a 28weeker premature baby. He will be 6 months old in 23 Jan(actual age). He stayed for almost 2 month in NICU. I used to express milk and take it to the hospital, he was on completely breast feed for 2.5 months, after that my supply reduced as my baby won't take feed directly. So, I started pre nan. He was consuming 60-90 ml. His weight was increasing tremendously but from last 20 days, he is refusing to have milk, wants to take only 30 ml and sometimes 60ml. Due to this he is always fussy. His weight has dropped. During night he sleeps for 4-5 hours and sometimes takes 90ml at night, but diaper is not too heavy at night, in day time, it is OK. Weight loss is a biggest concern. I am very much concern about his growth and development. He hold his neck for sometimes when I hold him in upright position but he cries during tummy time and not able to hold head.
Your baby probably developed feed aversion due to possible overfeeding as you mentioned weight gain was good earlier. You could start solids now, give milk by cup and monitor to gradually increase. Thank you for your response! So she was born at 38+5 days of gestation, her birth weight was 2.98 kgs. I was exclusively breastfeeding her. On day 4 she was 2.9. Her next doctors visit was on day 16 because since day 12 she was having explosive green poos and I was concerned. On day 16 she was still 2.9. That’s when the doctor told me to cut all lactose and sugars from my diet and prescribed her reducing substances stool test which came back positive. Day 18 she was 3 kgs but she started antibiotics because she had diarrhea. Then day 22 she was 3.2 kgs. Since then she is the same weight even though it has been 12 days. She is having two ounces of lactose free formula twice a day since the past 4 days. The rest is mother’s feed. she is my second child and I believe I have okay supply because I have expressed milk and seen that that is not the issue.

Try expressing your milk regularly for a few days to increase output, and feed that instead of formula so baby gets used to the change in taste-you need to be patient and work on increasing the output as well as reducing the formula intake over a few days

This is a very small amount of formula, it is not harmful but you could easily manage with 30 ml of expressed milk (store in freezer after expressing when free), and manage without formula (suggested this as you are giving breast milk almost 90% of needs)

You might be over interpreting hunger cues, a refluxing baby might appear hungry due to discomfort, I normally suggest 120 per feed with occasional 150 ml at this age

Keep better spacing between feeds and don’t force feed. Weight can be monitored on centile growth chart, stable pattern is fine

You might be over interpreting hunger cues, a refluxing baby might appear hungry due to discomfort, I normally suggest 120 per feed with occasional 150 ml at this age
