Vocal coach??? you said nothing that was technical about his voice lol...... "it was better" - Im now a vocal coach.
Considering how good his studio recordings sound, I think he is probably just not a good live performer. There is nothing really bad about his voice, but there is a chance that there is over-reliance on Autotune in his studio work. Unfortunately there is a LOT of flat singing and incorrect intervals in key sections (for example "make me", which is almost always inaccurate). Add to this some wobbles resulting from poor support and breath control. He was once again short of breath quite early on, so I suspect there is a fitness issue here. And as in the semi-final, he missed the cue after the spoken part and was about quaver or semiquaver behind, which is only corrected after the drum fill, which gets him back on track. The long note after that seemed a bit curtailed, but that's an artistic choice I guess, and he had to spare his breath for the final note, which was fine. Compared to other countries that combined physicality with singing, this was really poor. Both Sweden and Switzerland, for example, were doing a lot of physical work, but remained on top of the vocal performance. Along with Norway, this was some of the worst intonation of the entire night.

his voice isn't flat lmao I don't understand the hate on his vocal ability. You all can say you didn't like the stage and performance but going for his voice is stupid. He has a good voice and the song is fire.
I've been listening to the song on spotify and honestly, it's so much better on there. I personally really like the stage and performance

It was horrendous. Every performance he did, from pre-party to this, he struggled, badly. He chose the wrong key. No technique.

The staging tried its best but his voice is quacking like a duck.
Wasnt bad, just underwhelming, besides the voice, song mix and sound levels did not allow the song to move the crowd and sat very flat. Song itself is very generic and I would expect way more from (established) singer from the UK.
The staging was genuinely good the singing was decent the song is catchy but nothing special. Overall forgettable but not terrible
I agree! I felt embarassed for this performer...flat singing...over the top visualize...i felt like i was watching a mediocre performance at a gay bar. Zero points
Olly Alexander is very much looking forward to his next Big Gig of this year! Capitalizing on his breathtaking ESC-participance, he'll be performing "Dizzy" all summer, at Butlin's, as a supporting act for the Reynolds Girls ("I'd rather Jack").
Signing for 16 weeks straight, and 16 shows a day, was a like a dream-come-true for Olly: "I was born to perform Live and after all the turmoil and adrenaline that comes with rehearsing for, and participating in, Malmö, I was thrilled to sign for this steady job!", "I brought my own Shower Block. It will be right next to the Merry-Go-Round, so that the kids already feel a bit 'Dizzy' when they come to watch me!"
And about the Reynolds Girls: "They are such Pro's! I love them, and I feel that I can learn so much from them. They can actually hold a tone, steady, for 2 seconds!"
So, from June 8 on, bring your Kids and watch Olly entertain them while he shows of all the Epic moves from his Iconic Eurovision performance!
His show was good. Song is good. His voice was so weak
Sadly I’m from uk. I thought it was a not so great song, vocals v inconsistent possibly his voice too weak to compete with really strong ones and didn’t like the staging. Too graphic and static. Sorry. Olly.
In the 'Göteborgs Dagbladet' Olly revealed what went wrong: "I knew my parents would be watching, they've invested so much in me; piano-lessons, dental work, etc.", "I wanted to make them feel real proud for once; there just was no turning back".
We asked Olly what his expectations were before entering his Eurovision-Ordeal: "The moon on a stick", he said: "Already during the Pre-Parties, I knew I'd be in Big Trouble on The Night! The song, the dancing, the singing: it just wasn't me. I'm not cut out for this job, really". Any future plans? "I am so glad that I got that Cameo on EastEnders!", "While shooting at The Queen Vic, I suddenly realized what I really wanted to be: an actor!", "For the next season they've signed me to portray 'Wolly, the Dishwasher'. I'm so excited! I just can't wait to get my hands dirty!".
I think his performance might have been designed to show disrespect to European voters / a display of how much UK does not care about their opinion. Not helping to re-build Britain's relationship with EU after Brexit for sure. The song is not too bad itself (kind of romantic). The performance/staging tells a completely different story. This performance/dance routine would work in Madonna's concert better

He can’t sing. There is no other word for it. Some have it, some don’t.
He is a very very successful singer so I’m not sure you can claim this, I think hes just not great at singing while also doing the complicated dancing.

Try to find a single note that was sung correctly. Everybody was dancing and nobody was as bad as Olly. This guy cant sing without autotune.

@@slotssnstuff So? He conned millions of buyers into his auto-tune scam. He fell flat on his face without all the studio-enhancements, pitching and his auto-tune mic he uses at his concerts. I saw him Live 4 times: it was awful, just awful. No vocal-technique what-so-ever.
