I think if you put the 12ax7 back in and used a 5y3 you would like it better your b+ would go down about 65 volts so your break up would be at probably a 6 on the volume the 5y3 can deliver 125ma and that’s plenty for 1 807 I built a few and I hope you take it in consideration I use the type 80 to keep the coke bottle look same tube but 4 pin socket
I always wanted to build a Lauren, but in my case a Super Lauren with a couple tweaks for harp, but not using the cheesy asian capacitors that flatten tone...Sozo tone caps and F&T filters in all by amps...makes a huge difference in beautiful tone. It's gonna be a head unit built into a 60s muscle car engine part. 2x807s or 1625s that will represent 2 spark plugs with the anode cap wires resembling spark plug wires. Ordering the parts now as all my other amps and customer mods are done for now.

The designer actually intended diode rectification. It's fine as it is. I'm happy with it. It's been just like this for YEARS now.

12at7 or
A 12au7 or you couldn’t of just used different grid
Resistance like
A 33k just saying
There's only 1 preamp tube in this thing... why would I want a lower gain yet?
