illerac84 I think I saw a video on here about that. Some woman complaining that the film’s leads were white guys, because they were based on... shock...white guys. Because obviously there were no white men involved in motorsport however many years ago, so the film presumably should have had a lesbian white woman and a gender fluid black person or something.

I think that the melancholy note make the film that much more memorable. This film might be called "Ford Vs Ferrari" in some markets, but in others it's called Le Mans 66, and I think that focusing on the underdog winning team is the right choice if you go by that title. Ultimately it's about the story of the important men behind the project, and about Ken Miles above all else, particularly because this triumph is right before his own end. It's his final glorious chapter and it's entirely deserving of such a brilliant movie.

Well it far from accurate for drama: the car was already build and in tested in previous race it was 3rd year's developpement, Enzo has never been at the race, Ferrari was no match for Ford (Enzo probably new that) and Ken Miles was 8 laps ahead of the second Ford and if I remember correctly 12-14 laps on the 3rd Ford. Ferrari's cars withdraw half race. Ken miles was second and never allow with it car to be in the winner area ... When the course offcial saw Miles droping it pace by 30 sec a lap, they spy Ford. They found out the plot to put the 3 cars on the finish line at the same time (just 2 cars btw), and they said that if Ford walk this path, Miles will not win because he started ahead on the starting position (the 2d car had un more distance in the same amont of time). Mollie's arc is pretty simple. She loves her husband and supports him in all his skills. But she demands to be kept in the loop. Good times, bad times, husband in fistfight times, no big deal. Keeping secrets? Big deal. (And it is grimly funny because it is discussed in the same terms as if he were having a secret affair instead of secret driving fast in circles.) The other arc is that she will.do her best to make money and help him chase dreams, but she is going to get upset if they lose the house. Gotta draw the line somewhere.
I thought it was nice how they showed that she was willing to bury her fears in order to support her husband and son. She was portrayed as brave, funny, loving, and understanding, not as an oppressed victim. She didn't hate Shelby or the mechanics, either. She was supportive and romantic toward her man, wanting him to be his best self, and she accepted that might mean injury or death.

There's no speedo in the real one. Sometimes you can here the supercharger whine from the replica, but I'll give it a pass. You're not going to let actors or stunt drivers take an ultra rare original out and thrash it about. The always press the accelerator and downshift to pass the other car, is a bit cliche but they need to do something to show the audience what is going on. I'll let things like that pass. Spivster46 hmm, you should probably watch more movies if this is one of the best you’ve seen in a while. Because this is not top tier filmmaking, The Lighthouse, Parasite, The Irishman, Marriage Story, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood are.

It’s been a year since this film came out and I still have fond memories of coming to the theater and watching this in the front row. I heard about the story before the film and I was absolutely blown away at how well it was told in film. Such a shame nowadays not a lot of people comment about the film now, and I think it’s gonna slowly slip into the realm that the movie “rush” is in. An understated jem that people should really hear more of

This is one of my top 2019 choices too. if you seen the movie a great addition is the documentary called The 24 Hour War on Netflix it goes really deep into both Ford and Ferrari and gives loads of details regarding LeMan and how Ford failed many times before getting the '66 wins. For those that don't know much around this era and race it's a most see documentary to add to this movie since there is so much you can fit in a movie they stuck to the important stuff.

I grabbed my 12 year old son (well he's 11 but 12 next week), fired up the surround sound and ordered the film on Amazon. We sat riveted and enjoyed every moment. I followed the production of the movie from the beginning because when I heard about the GT40 as a kid, I loved everything about it. I was scared that the movie was going to be a low budget film with no reason to watch it-almost like another documentary about the legendary 1966 race. But no, they put everything into it, and it was fantastic. The story of the GT40 on the big screen was almost magical in my eyes, and my friends finally understood why I can never stop thinking about automotive racing. It was bittersweet that 2019 was also the year Ford left Le Mans for their 2016-2019 50th anniversary runs. Oh well, at least it happened

I strongly recommend you read the book (of the same name) from which the movie is derived. Lots of details that couldn't be included in the movie that make the story even more amazing. There's a line in the movie acknowledging that Henry Ford II's fiat dictate of "Win LeMans at Any Cost" could never happen in today's corporate world. To be fair to the Deuce, his decision was dead on: Winning LeMans gave Ford of Europe the credibility needed to succeed in that sales environment.

Loved the film. Felt like I'd driven a whole race from start to finish by the end of the film. Was surprised when it kept going. I've been summarising the focus as being on the friendship between Shelby and Miles - I think that's where the soul of the movie lies - the other actors and subplots are like wallpaper to the emotion on display from the two main characters. Mile's wife puts in the right amount of concern as a linchpin to the family.
