The answer is YES. I fitted my Safari snorkel (Td5) some 15 years ago and it was not simple. Because you improve, clean and make better the things you touch in the process. Feels good afterwards.
Yep, The problem for parts manufacturers is designing one product to fit the 200 'standard' panel positions on the Defender. Great video as usual Dale! Keep them coming....
Great video again Dale - lifting a hood on your own belies how tough it is! Whether the snorkel works or not remains to be seen, just ask yourself the question - how often are you gonna be driving through water one meter deep? The answer is......,probably never. Thanks for the uploads Dale, keep safe and have a great 2025!
Well done Dale Good Australian product I have a safari fitted to my TD5 in Australia

In my defender I have also safari snorkel and from my experience there is no need for it, except it makes it look better. I've used it twice for winter river crossing. I have dual battery system under the seat, cabinets and sleeping place made inside. And they are located lower than than the possible defender's wading depth. But it does great job in conwoys in dusty roads.
You make a really good point. I guess it is just cosmetic for now but hopefully when it’s all plumbed in properly it’ll help with clean air. I’m personally not going to do much wading at all so I guess I just like the way it looks.
Haha i know how u feel man, every job i do on my 110 turns into ten other jobs. I had a dumb moment the other day driving up a pair of ramps to do some work under the back end, only problem was the back of the landys roof wasn't all the way in the garage door when it went up, landys fine garage door got bent up lol😅
Mate I feel your pain, been considering one of these for mine but on reflection I think I’m going to focus on checking and replacing the gear box and axel breathers then I’ll check and ensure the OE hoses from the side vent to the air box are connected and sealed properly. I think that should be well sufficient for Berkshire/Hampshire potential flooded areas 😊
No, it's not you, so many parts don't fit Defenders and a high price won't guarantee a better fit. Don't forget to seal up the drain on the bottom of the air filter box 👍
Don’t blank off the water drain/trap, just ensure it’s working correctly and not blocked open. Fully working it’s more of a benefit as it’s likely you’ll get rain water forced down the snorkel whilst driving that will need to drain out. Never had much ingress through the water drain whilst wading deeply. Even though safari snorkel heads have groves in that apparently eliminate water ingress down the snorkel, it does still enter. I also find the snorkels sit too high and will get knocked at every tree. I usually cut 6-8” off the top of the tube, and then fit the snorkel head on. It’s a much better fit and sits closer to the roof/winsceeen.

Bru, people don’t understand how strong you are.
Also, nice pipe.
@@ShaneRielly hahaha 🤣 less so these days.

@@markriley2733 you’re absolutely right! I think that’s a really good plan. Something I need to do too.
My air hoses on my 300tdi have cracked over time. I went through some flood water at the beginning of the year and hydro locked the motor 😢

@@andicog haha, thanks mate. I wish I didn’t bother with the £200 safari snorkel now.
Good plan on the air filter box. I still need to do that.
5 minute jobs always take 3 hours. It's the law.
