José Mourinho is one of the world's most decorated managers.
He first came to prominence when he won the UEFA Cup and Champions League with Porto in consecutive seasons. Having beaten Celtic 3-2 in 2003, Mourinho's men went onto win Europe's premiere competition by defeating Didier Deschamps' Monaco in the Champions League a year later.
His success at Porto didn't go unnoticed and in the summer of 2004, moved to Chelsea where he would manage the Blues in the first of two spells. Having smashed several records in his debut season whilst winning the League Cup and Premier League (Chelsea's first in 50 years), Mourinho won the league again in his second season. A third season in west London saw the Portuguese add to his trophy haul with another League Cup and a first FA Cup.
Mourinho joined Inter in the 2008 and finished his first season with a Serie A title. However, his next season with the Nerazzurri was his most spectacular. He completed a treble, winning the league, Italian Cup and Champions League, the first for an Italian club.

Out of all the achievements jose has made no one talks about probably his biggest one.
In 2001 he took a team in Portugal that was 20th in the league. Close to relegation and he took over and brought them to the 3rd place in front of Porto.
Ironically that's how he got the Porto job
Leiria weren't bottom of the league, they weren't even a bottom half team in Portugal at the time. You might be confusing him with AVB who did take over Academica from bottom, or around the bottom, and got them mid table.
Mourinho's stock as an assistant was quite high & he'd proven himself capable in his brief time at Benfica, he wasn't gunna start that low down the food chain.

Yeah he works better with what he has, and can see the talent before the talent has peaked. He knows what environment and gets the best out of all of his players, Fergie could do the same thing...pep cannot do this, pep just buys players that he wants and if they don't work he gets rid of them

I remember the real Madrid side in 2012 under him. It was the fastest counter attack to have been played by any team. Mourinho is a winner. He made them bring in 100+ points.

I always feel sad watching jose now....it was a big mistake going to man united...this guy is genius but didnt get the support he deserve in man u....there is this proverb that saids "when the soup get cold every wounded mouth can drink it." Jose understands something that too many people don't who follow the beautiful game: 1-0 games win championships. Even "beautiful, flowing" Manchester City needed to grind a 1-0 out against Leicester in order to win the league last year. The true champions figure out how to make it work even when you don't have it.

@@levente.k333 I think he’s brought it on himself gradually, his ego has taken over. He’s obviously fallen out with some of the players. I think one of them is Harry Kane. That’s why Kane has left his future open until after the Euros.

LVG was probably the best manager since Ferguson.
He won the Europa League and many trophies with United. I used to be a United fan too, but many stupid decisions led the club to the abyss of English football. Sacking Mourinho because of a tunnel incident and a dozen points behind the leader was one of them.

Genious, clever, and practical, porto and inter Milan glory was greatest contributions in football history. He showed the world how to get glory from ordinary team into top level.

Well if a manager shift makes you change your club, then you are a disloyal person who doesn't have a shred of idea what supporting a team is like. Mourhino can be the greatest manager ever, but nothing, remember nothing is more important than the club. We support united because we worship the game and our religion is our team. Managers can never be more important if you are a true fan.

SAF wanted to make academy great. in match, crossing, counter etc. was his weapon. then whomever utd signed as coach, they really don't have the same methodology. Utd's board is drunk. But there was some bad luck too. You can see Pogba signing isn't working for utd, the record transfer for utd. Why is that so? Is Mourinho too dumb to sign him? I think the reason is Zlatan. Pogba is very good at long ball, so as Zlatan. But after Zlatan gone, you can see there is none in utd who can support him now. So, pogba flop.
Pogba's and other players' frustration is legit, so as Mourinho's. But I think if they both had sacrificed their ego and backed up each other, then the story would have been different.

Note, he has won something with EVERY clubs he managed only Spurs and that's because they fired him just before a final. That speaks volumes on his ability as a coach.

He is one of the greatest of all time and as a coach I resonate with him not wanting to be a player, but more so a coach.
I dont think he's the best coach ever (pep is), dont think he's the best manager ever (ancelotti is) but he is by far the most loved by the clubs he coached. Pep and Ancelotti dont evoke that kind of love from the fans of the clubs they coached. The guy is a genius! Not sure if the the other 2 I mentioned could achieve what he did with so called smaller clubs.
