I have an 118i Sport Line but i wish they made a 118is with an M pack, around 180-200hp which would be a middle ground between this and the M135i. The B38 can make more power as it is evident from the i8 which has a B38 tuned to around 228hp. I could tune mine (downpipe, ecu etc) but I don't know if the 7 speed dct can handle it.
What actually limits B38 tuning is the DKG7. I've seen 195hp B38 but not much more. If it had the ZF8 it could go well above 200hp. If you want 180hp you have to go for thd 120i and its B48 wich can be tuned easily around 230hp.
Poor value no matter where you buy it. There's nothing special about this car. You pay extra because it has a BMW badge. Why someone would buy a 118i over say a VW GTI is beyond me.
I mean... from the start up it sounded like a Toyota Aygo/Yaris, I- BMW really fell down with the new 1 series. In my opinion we'll see a scary depreciation for this car... I feel sorry for it

@@nurbsenvi The 118i M Sports package actually starts at $41k (I'm assuming you are reffing to Australian dollars). But you're right, at this price it's not a good competitor anymore. If you'd really want to get the 118i for some reason you'd be better off with the 118i Sport line which starts at just 31k. And that's still bad value since you can get the Focus st, fiesta st etc for allot cheaper than even that

That's not entirely correct in Australia. BMW M and M Performance cars make up a decent proportion of sales here. We're one of the strongest markets.

You do realise M Sport is not M? M Sport is mainly cosmetic enhancements and some handling tweaks. Similar to AMG Sport and Audi S line.

They did, its 120i, its 2.0 178hp, its same engine in mini cooper s, and goes 0-100 for 7 seconds.
