I hope we do not overestimate the cellular reprogramming by Yamanaka factors, because DNA damage or loss cannot be reversed except for the lengthening of telomere which is a repetitive sequence that is expected process is done by repeating certain codons in a sequence, but genes which are more complicated than telomeres when got damaged are so hard to repair by the reprogramming process, but in my opinion, there is still a probability of the existence of nonmaterialistic or virtual template of DNA we have to find, if we did this, the problem will be solved easy
If DNA damage was as prevalent & hard to repair as we are lead to believe, no species would survive past ten generations.
I agree, nature must have a backup of DNA somewhere, like it has a backup of the epigenome.
