What a good uniting song and a big hit in early 70's . Memories!
Bring back memories of my Grandmother dancing in her kitchen to this song.
Love this classic hit song thank you.

WOW! I use to hear this song quite often at the old Western Gardens in Edmonton, AB back in my early honky-tonk days of the early & mid 70's, it was played quite a bit too along with Doug Kershaw's "Diggy Diggy Lo" tune, this place was about a block over from the "Klondiker Hotel", back in the day when a glass of beer was .20 cents, a bottle .45 cents.
Great song bill . Have a great night

The words mean Don't drop the potato, but the message is to never give up or never stop trying
He says don't drop the hot potato my n word. It shouldn't be on TH-cam. Pretty offensive if you ask me.
It means don't give up the potato
lâche pas la patate veux simplement dire dont give Up
@@toddufojuggalorider9947what about all the racist rap songs? they use the n word plenty more times than this
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA EEEEEEEEEEEEEE fi pa sa mon fete' putanh!!

how is no one discussing this is written by probably the most racist musical artists of all time, Johnny Rebel
This isn't the only song he wrote for Jimmy C Newman, either. They must have been friends... just blows my mind to think that such a well-known artist like Newman had anything to do with Johnny Rebel.
He made many songs outside of racist songs, he did a cover of White Lightning by George Jones. He wasn’t a bad singer or anything, what really sucks is how he used his talent for bad. I wish he went the route of just making nice songs that everyone could listen too.
@@RavioloComboli True, I’m actually a fan of his work, he did a lot of great country and rockabilly songs. I’m just surprised that he got that close to the mainstream, nowadays it would destroy someone’s career if they had anything to do with someone like that.
@@dariosmagata8481 I like his work too. Ofc not all of it. But even his racist songs are catchy, which… sounds terrible saying. But outside of that whole genre he really did have mainstream potential.
Yeah but Rebel was pretty good ngl
Great song
