More Donnie, please. I can tell from his calm, humble demeanor he would always be the most dangerous man in the room. I'm sure he has quite a lot to share and educate us with. Thanks gentlemen.
I had the pleasure of being Donnie's sparring partner for a month of training. Good dude while sparing he taught me a lot. Rock On Tactical Rifleman and Donnie! All the Way!
Great video, and I thank all of those who made it and posted it on TH-cam. I am so glad, and grateful that these brave and fine warriors are on the same side I am. Martial Arts in general as an industry should refocus on self defense again, and not so much on sport as it has been since the dominance of MMA in our pop culture. Not that MMA is not effective, and not that it is bad because it is fantastic in its own right, but this type of Martial Arts should be reexamined again by enthusits.
"...any weapon we pull out can be used against us". Classic tip we rarely hear. But something ALL of us should keep in mind. man or woman. Saw a video this morning where it was suggested that women should carry folding nives. That had this 20 year old college student been carrying a folding knife she might be alive. I disagreed immediately. Chances would have been she would have fumbled to get it out of her bag or pocket. And likely the knife would hve been taken ramping up the violence level against her. Most women have 10 deadly weapons on them at all times..their nails. Can never be taken from them (well not NEVER but..highly unlikely). Can be used at close range. Best at close range and effective. She can claw the eyes of her attacker then run away if possible. Odd no one teaches that in any women's self-defence class..i digress. Good basic info many might not be aware of...
The Jiu Jitsu guys are extremely pissed watching this video 😂. Even a special forces soldier said it, you can't go to the ground in a real fight because you are vulnerable on the ground if people other than your first opponent interfere
Thank you for ordering combat ranges for us. For information one would think is intuitive, it is oddly helpful to organize my EH CQB mindset as ranged and which tools are appropriate and when. Knowing the why behind my training really makes that intuitive or training/reactive immediate action that much quicker and effective. More than that, if going to the ground is unacceptable then I really need to raise my level of aggression and change my civilian mindset from one of escalating force as the situation dictates to an immediate and highly favorable end to any unarmed or EH event that requires my participation. I know the haters will be saying I should already know this and think this way, but I call BS. While I am a veteran, I am in reality a 50something civillian training for something I hope to God never happens. BTW I love the way you rock the word “Growin”!!!
Instructor Bowen, I appreciate your time in presenting these videos. The subject matter must be your specialty as I saw you in The Selection and thought they should have kept the show up. You and a couple of the other instructors are now in the limelight as I have seen others in other programs courtesy of the History Channel. How does it feel to be a celebrity and has it become an issue for you?
We have a few more videos with Mr. Bowen coming soon! We put out a new video every Friday so subscribe or check back with us when you can. Strength and Honor, TR
blindjustice316 If has knife you shoot him. Take downs an throws ok as long as you don't go to the ground with the bad guy. But better know how to fight back to your feet if you get knocked down.
Yeah, war fighters know that horizontal grappling is death. That's why from the Vikings on no one was trying to use oma plata. And absolutely no FISTS in war fighting you can't climb, shoot, dig, hold anything if you break anything on the hand. We're down with it combat-judo.com
@@TacticalRifleman I appreciate that thank you! There's not much in the way of a military look at knife disarms online - lots of kali and lots of 'shoot them' haha although that may be the best option its not alway viable! Some unarmed responses would be good. Thanks for the reply and thank you for the awesome work you guys do! Have a great Christmas and new year
Don't punch because you may break your hand... but do try to finger their eyes and jab the throat because there is a zero percent chance of breaking a finger that way... okay...
Where I life just twirling a stick can be a misdeemer. It is not because I doubt the effectiveness of this but I think that needs to be mentioned. Though there is a lot of truth to this.
Tactical Rifleman I wanted to ask, because people say all the time that martial arts can’t train you for a real combative situation. I was in martial arts for 12 years. Started with karate, then taekwondo, then judo, then back to karate. I’ve had people tell me it doesn’t do anything. As well as Krav Maga being fake. People believe that the only useful fighting styles are Brazilian jiu jitsu, and boxing/kick boxing (muay Thai). I wanted to know what you guys think of that. I know a lot of people that believe the blocking and counters don’t actually work in a real situation. I personally believe they do.
Eggo 5 Airsoft gameplay in certain situations you would be right and maybe even in close proximity but it's just the fact that he is teaching for a situation that is more close up. And you could still combine certain techniques to stun the enemy, back away, then shoot
Dash speedQb Airsoft you give airsofters and paintballers a bad name. dude has been in uniform longer than you've been alive but you are going to give him "fun facts" on actual fighting. fucking nerd
still a lot of room for improvement. 1. if you have a shot at their groin, why are you concerned with their knee? if you just hit their knee like that rather than the side or back there is a good chance your kick wont do anything because your just pushing against skeletal structure 2. going to the ground is fine if you know what your doing if your going into the rangers your gonna have a lot of experience here if there is any dirt/gravel/sand/mud, it would be a good idea to use it 3.in the situation they grab the barrel and move it to the side exactly as you explained, there is an easy opening to hit them in the face with the butt of the gun, if thats not possible for whatever reason then you could always advance and push them up against a wall and start knee/headbutting them or if your lucky they trip on whatever might be behind them and end up on the floor 4. instead of focusing on where to hit, it would be much more useful to focus on how to get around him if your approach includes trading blows with him from the front, your approach isnt working 5. you mentioned having a sidearm, which would have been drawn the minute your rifle was gone also mentioned friends behind him. in that case you wont need your gun. being surrounded however, he may draw his if he hasnt already 6. at exactly 3:45 is possibly the worst way you could have created distance. instead of jumping back (which you eventually did), you just put your hand on his opposite shoulder, he is now to the side of you and could easily lunge around your arm and apply a choke. ive seen several people make similar mistakes such as missed punches that cross or attempts to grab exactly how you did that ended up with them taking a nap. 7. but everybody is different, so im not sure how practical these would be to you you seem to prefer to stay at a distance to them whereas my ideal spacing would be a forearm length between mine and the enemys torso, so there is a bit of a difference.
Aaron Golosov For me a fair fight is when both sides are armed the same so in a close combat situation a fist vs knife fight is not a fair fight but a fist vs fist fight is one!
Grappling range, Punching range, Trapping range ,Kicking range and Projectile range... also it is misinformation about not going to the ground. Some combat styles live on the ground! With the popularity of MMA as a sport, you can bet that a lot of people are going to the ground as aggressors. I was taught to expect the fight to go to the ground and know how to fight from there. What warrior doesn't know how to fight from the ground? This guy...
Stop. I agree with you 100%, right up to where you said "What Warrior..." Donnie is talking about Combatives for modern military combat operations. We, as Assaulters, do NOT want to go to ground if possible to avoid. That said, if you look at ANY modern US military combatives videos, you'll see that the US Army combatives program is 95% on the ground. If you zoom in on your screen, you'll see that Donnie has "Cauliflower Ear" on both his ears; that is from spending way too many hours on the ground in head-locks and other grappeling positions. Donnie practices what he preaches. You are entitled to your opinion, just like Donnie; but I ask that you THINK before you run your Suck.
Tactical Rifleman mad respect for your work keep the videos coming. Are you guys going to make any more videos on TCCC instruction? If you guys do that will be appreciated.
Dude you're missing the point that he is not talking about a one on one combat, If you go to the ground in a war scenario, chance are either you get knifed, attack by more people... anything can happen even people ripping off their enemies nose with a bite. It's better to create space an use your weapons. Malee fight in wars are totally different. Just watch the crazy nightmarish shit soldiers used in IWW trench wars
These are terrible techniques! A lapel choke would end close combat instantly. I’ve rolled with jar heads & rangers that tried these useless moves then took a short little nap after trying them.
Yep, Go to Ground grappling in a room full of guys with guns. You are missing the point. While your Lapel Choke is a good tool to keep in your tool box, it doesn't work in every situation. Our Combatives Instructors used to think the same way till we took them along to some of our other fighting/shooting schools. You need to be well-rounded. Thanks for watching, but don't bash Donnie. TR.
ThTs cuz there trained for fucking mortal kombat and not that jujitsu pretty boy bullshit. Try that shit when 2 heavily armed men want to murder you at 3 am in some Middle East country. Why are jujitsu people so goddamn stupid
there is no fair fighting when your fighting for your life.
Tennessee Tarantula's damn strait

Yes he is so silent he has 40 thousand people who have seen his face in one video

Best line "If we have to kill 'em, we'll just kill 'em...
Either you or them
Going for the nose and getting those eyes watering is another good one for clinch range.
He looks like a cartoon action figure from the g.i. Joe cartoon.
Great video!
its not the quantity of training but the quality of the trainer. 5 min video sums what i have been trying to figure out for awhile now

Absolutely love the videos.
Glad you like them!

It's what I teach my wife and loved ones. Keeping it simple.
Keep up the good work my friends.
it's actually not easy, since they all are small area. And to hit it with right angle in a flurry fight is not what you can do without training.

Good thorough explanation!
The big thing for me is to be able to keep myself together. Not only to learn to use my anger but control to still think straight.
Wow! This guy is lethal.
Great video, looks simple, straightforward, but brutally effective. Thanks for video.
I love the distinction between controlled pairs and hammered pairs. Regular Army doesn’t include hammered pairs

still a lot of room for improvement.

if you just hit their knee like that rather than the side or back there is a good chance your kick wont do anything because your just pushing against skeletal structure
2. going to the ground is fine if you know what your doing
if your going into the rangers your gonna have a lot of experience here
if there is any dirt/gravel/sand/mud, it would be a good idea to use it
3.in the situation they grab the barrel and move it to the side exactly as you explained, there is an easy opening to hit them in the face with the butt of the gun, if thats not possible for whatever reason then you could always advance and push them up against a wall and start knee/headbutting them or if your lucky they trip on whatever might be behind them and end up on the floor
