I recently acquired a Janome S3 Skyline machine and I simply love it. I will be taking sewing classes pretty soon and I look forward to growing into this machine.

I have the S6 I wish they keypad locks, when I’m working on a quilt and wrangling the fabric it touches the screen and it starts beeping.

Thank you for your feedback! I have accidentally done the same and share your concern. We pass along the feedback to our parent company so you may see this feature in an upcoming Janome machine. Thank you for sharing the Janome love!

the Janome Skyline S3 does have a scissor button to cut the threads on the face of the machine. There's also a side thread cutter on virtually all Janome machines, as well. Happy Sewing!

does anyone else have the issue of the embroidery patterns showing on reverse of fabric? have a new S3

Decorative stitches and lettering stitches are automatically set with a higher bobbin tension so the top threads are pulled to the back side. Be sure to use a stabilizer underneath to help support the extra density of the stitches.
      Happy Sewing!

Hi there, I'm looking at the skyline s3 and s6 for garment sewing. I make a lot of big dresses and coats and am wanting a mid range- premium machine that can punch through layers of fabric. Are these my best choices in the Janome range? I am wondering whether the 7mm-9mm feet will be my best choice for very detailed garment sewing?

HI Lisa! The Skyline range of machines is designed as a mid-line machine with some higher-end features, larger throat space. etc. without the higher end price. Of your decision between S3, and S6, Skyline S6 is the first in the line with the built-in AcuFeed feeding system, which helps feed thicker layers of fabric more easily; great for matching plaids, velvets, etc. You have the same detailed sewing in 7mm and 9mm, but if you'd like to embellish your garments with decorative stitches, many prefer the wider 9mm stitches as opposed to the smaller 7mm, but that's personal preference. There are more specialty presser feet available for the 9mm machines. Contact your Janome dealer to arrange a test drive so you can see which machine is right for you! Happy Sewing!

@@janomehqjanomecanada4908 Thanks so much for your detailed reply :) I went out and bought a Skyline s6 today from my local dealer in New Zealand. I took a stack of fabrics and was really impressed with the stitch quality, especially on thin jersey fabric. I'm a janome convert!
