Jokic deserved the MVP over Embiid. Go look at their win-shares on Basketball Reference. 14.9 for Jokic and 12.3 for Embiid. Going into the stretch run, most people were picking Jokic for MVP. That immediately changed once Kendrick Perkins started turning the MVP race into a racial issue (white vs. black). People then started pumping Embiid's tires because they didn't want anyone to look at them as racist, even though it was ridiculous.

I think Giannis is the better offensive and defensive player by a very slight margin but Jokic is the best overall player. Giannis can't do what Jokic does. Nikola can't put the punishment on guys like Giannis can. LeBron has dominated Jokic on drives to the basket many times. But Jokic needn't to be physical. He is so much more skilled. I think he is the only center ever who could be put at the point and still impact the game as he does.

People want to hang everything on that game in Philly so desperately. No one wants to mention that Jokic was dealing with a knee injury, wrist injury, and still recovering from covid but at least he was man enough to show up and play. Embiid knows that all it takes is just one game where Jokic exposes him in Denver, and he loses any edge he has against Jokic in head to head matchups. So he keeps ducking games in Denver to avoid this possibility, only playing the matchup in Philly where things are more in his favor. And if he was avoiding Denver before, he sure isn't ever going to show up now, the whole arena will be calling him fraud MVP and deep down he'll know they're correct.

Clearly Jokic isn't the better individual defender than Embiid. Also clearly, Jokic plays good enough defense to the point that his Nuggets are the 5th best defense in the postseason with him playing between 36-42 minutes a game. The defense argument is poor because good defense is largely based on coaching schemes. The Nuggets' effective defensive rotation wins them games. Great individual contributions aren't as necessary for them. Jokic plays the Nuggets rotational style of defense very effectively, so much so that he was the top center in steals in the regular season, and top 10 in deflections. The 76ers scheme allowed Joel to come weak side and get incredible blocks once his teammate's man beat him. They're different styles. Ultimately, Jokic is incredibly better on offense than Embiid, so again, Jokic is better than Embiid.
Their defense better work well. Malone had to build their whole defensive scheme around Jokic. But yes, ur 100% right. It's good to know that people aren't buying Skip's BS take (s).

Jokic deserved the MVP over Embiid. Go look at their win-shares on Basketball Reference. 14.9 for Jokic and 12.3 for Embiid. Going into the stretch run, most people were picking Jokic for MVP. That immediately changed once Kendrick Perkins started turning the MVP race into a racial issue (white vs. black). People then started pumping Embiid's tires because they didn't want anyone to look at them as racist, even though it was ridiculous.

I think Giannis is the better offensive and defensive player by a very slight margin but Jokic is the best overall player. Giannis can't do what Jokic does. I have never seen a center who can pass like him and who shoots from perimeter and three point line so efficient on such a consistent basis. He should've won the MVP, not Embiid. Well, he might get the chip instead.

Nikola can't put the punishment on guys like Giannis can. LeBron has dominated Jokic on drives to the basket many times. But Jokic needn't to be physical. He is so much more skilled. I think he is the only center ever who could be put at the point and still impact the game as he does.

People want to hang everything on that game in Philly so desperately. No one wants to mention that Jokic was dealing with a knee injury, wrist injury, and still recovering from covid but at least he was man enough to show up and play.
Embiid knows that all it takes is just one game where Jokic exposes him in Denver, and he loses any edge he has against Jokic in head to head matchups. So he keeps ducking games in Denver to avoid this possibility, only playing the matchup in Philly where things are more in his favor. And if he was avoiding Denver before, he sure isn't ever going to show up now, the whole arena will be calling him fraud MVP and deep down he'll know they're correct.

Clearly Jokic isn't the better individual defender than Embiid. Also clearly, Jokic plays good enough defense to the point that his Nuggets are the 5th best defense in the postseason with him playing between 36-42 minutes a game. The defense argument is poor because good defense is largely based on coaching schemes. The Nuggets' effective defensive rotation wins them games. Great individual contributions aren't as necessary for them. Jokic plays the Nuggets rotational style of defense very effectively, so much so that he was the top center in steals in the regular season, and top 10 in deflections. The 76ers scheme allowed Joel to come weak side and get incredible blocks once his teammate's man beat him. They're different styles. Ultimately, Jokic is incredibly better on offense than Embiid, so again, Jokic is better than Embiid.
Their defense better work well. Malone had to build their whole defensive scheme around Jokic.
