      What you said is true for those living in Manhattan, NYC. It is Expensive!!! However there is such a thing as Affordable Housing which the government provides for those who want cheaper living. However, getting those apartments is usually a long waitlist or a lottery. Fortunately my wait time for affordable housing was under 3 years and my one bedroom, which I love is $800 a month and gas/electric included. I am just like you. I do my own nails and in Brooklyn doing nails can be expensive. However, I just get the nail gel which can last for a week or two for $20 and pedicure $15. For tips and other nail styles. It can be pricey. But I keep it simple and mostly do myself at home. I do my hair every two months at the hair salon and I don't put color. So I just pay $80 and that is including tip. My groceries is $120 every two weeks and I don't eat out much since that is expensive and I buy an unlimited monthly Metrocard for $127. However, since I've been working from home during COVID. I saved a ton of money on transportation. In Brooklyn we do have gyms much cheaper. I paid $60 a month for the gym because I love the Zumba and Cycling classes included but stopped going during COVID. However, Brooklyn does have cheaper gyms like Crunch which is $10 a month. So you basically hit it on the nail for Manhattan prices regarding cost of living which to me is one of the most expensive boroughs to live in the five boroughs.

    Brooklyn, Queens, etc., are not the "outskirts" of NYC. They are different parts of NYC. As a lifelong NYer who has lived in several boroughs, it's annoying how newcomers think NYC = Manhattan.

    Canada prices:
    Rent: 2 bdrm: somewhere around $2,500
    Groceries: $300.00 / week ( family costs )
    Median housing prices: $800,000 & up ( would mean it's in good shape )
    $ 400,000 to $700,000 ( would need work / reno )
    Admission to movies: $ 15.00/ person

    Thank you very much for such an informative video :) I think it's very similar to London prices - may be even cheaper on some categories. However, hair - OMG - that costs a lot for the highlights! What would be the range of salaries you can get in NYC then? Do you have enough to save as a rule of thumb? In London is hard to save...

    Thank you for sharing a little of your life and so honestly. I live in Australia, I rent a three bedroom house which is $1230.00 per month, groceries for my family is about $250 - $300 per week, gas and electricity is about $500 per month, wifi unlimited plus phone plus tv is $320 per month. I have a car, which I don’t drive to much so it’s pretty manageable with fuel. We don’t go many places only to take our son to things he loves but I feel we have a great life and are very lucky, a lot more than some. I love how you never seem to take things for granted, you seem to be very down to earth and lovely. Thank you, from our family in Australia 🇦🇺

    I think you have your costs down pretty well. The only thing that seems a bit high is rent, but not by that much. In Buffalo you can get a smallish place like yours in a decent neighborhood for about $900 plus gas and electric. Those utilities would run about $140/month together. So, you pay about a $1000 monthly premium to live in NYC. Not as much as I would have thought. All other expenses are on par. Excellent video Taylor!?💖
