I love this video and what a great website it turned out to be (I love the collage idea in the hero section)!! This was exactly the type of content/explanation/walk through I was scouring TH-cam for a while ago when I first found your channel - of course I still subscribed before this because your content was good 😌 I’m transitioning into freelance web dev and design after my traditional theory-based computer science to corporate software engineering route. Videos like this have helped me learn new things and also be able to articulate what I intuitively knew just from my personal observations (like the hero and social proof concept). Your channel has been a master class in my journey thank you ❤ a video on including branding/graphic design into your web dev work and client pricing for that would be awesome
Aww this is so nice to hear! I'm so glad my channel has helped you 😊 it sounds like you've had a very similar journey to me, going from computer science/sw engineering to web design. It's a hard journey but so worth it, at least it has been for me. And that's a good idea for a video, thank you! 💕
This is fantastic! Jen, you did an amazing job on this video. The strategy is crystal clear, and your explanation of why you selected these options really demonstrates your authority and expertise. One small piece of feedback: the social proof sections with the light green background and green text can be a bit hard to read. I’d suggest using contrast accessibility tools to ensure that people with color blindness or visual impairments can fully appreciate the incredible work you’ve done here.
Aw thank you, that's so nice to hear 😊 and thank you for the feedback! I was worried about those colors not having enough contrast, and you confirmed it for me haha
aw thank you! with yours though it's a product so they can add to cart and see the price from there, so that's good, but we could probably do better. Usually for courses like yours though I've seen the pricing way at the bottom, and usually the price is crossed out with a "sale" price showing or somehow indicating that the price is lower than it's worth. Here's a great example of a sales page that worked on me lol: www.katescott.co/scale Honestly I feel like I've already learned so much since working on your website that I wish I had known before but maybe we can discuss on our next call 👀
Hey Jen, you did an amazing job of explaining the thought process behind the most crucial part of a website, but how can I tailor a website for a baby carrier website? I am tasked with revamping the website, So could you help me plan on what to put, there are a few things I like and some I don't.
thanks! I would do some research and look at competitor websites to see what they focus on. I'd imagine for baby carriers you'd want to highlight safety features, product reviews, etc. to build trust in your customers
As a web designer mainly using no-code tools to directly create websites, I want to know when you're working in Figma, do you use Auto Layout and make the design responsive within Figma? Or do you just create wireframes without focusing on layout or responsiveness?
I do use auto-layout and try to align things properly, just to keep things looking clean and balanced, but usually I care more about that if I'm designing a more detailed mockup rather than these low-fidelity wireframes. Even when I'm designing more detailed mockups I don't care tooo much about making things pixel perfect in figma because I feel like it takes too much time, I find it easier to be more flexible with the design. I never really think about designing responsive layouts in figma, although maybe I should start doing the mobile version of the website in figma too. I usually just do that on the fly in Squarespace.
I’ve gotta say, this video is so helpful! I’ve been watching your videos for a bit now and it’s awesome seeing your thinking behind the designs!
Amazing thought process. Great video!

I REALLY loved this video. Btw whats your thoughts on webflow vs squarespace. I want to start learning but confused between two

It's amazing to me how each one of your videos just keeps getting better and better!
Now... should I make pricing more prominent on my website? 🤔
