- I edited together The Berserk (TV Series 1997) into a film trilogy, I also used some parts from the new 2012 Berserk films. I take no credit for this video in anyway. The work is from Kentaro Miura story "Berserk". Directed by Naohito Takahashi and Toshiyuki Kubooka. Written by Ichirô Ohkôchi . Produced by Toshio Nakatani
and Toshiaki Okuno. Music by Susumu Hirasawa. Hope people enjoy. I find it a great way to watch Berserk, though this is still a rough edit so future cuts maybe posted.

I agree. I discovered it in 98 through a pirated copy with English subtitles. Then again when it came onto DVD a few years later.
I've read some of the Manga too. The Manga goes far beyond what's covered in the anime, but it's got a lot of volumes and is expensive.

In my interpretation, the Voices are really just Guts' own doubts. The realization that Griffith doesn't really respect him. That Guts doesn't have a dream of his own to chase. Struggling against his feelings of guilt & love of the Band. In battle, his mind clears & all there is the serenity of war, the one thing he truly understands. The voices aren't psychotic urges to kill, but the opposite. They are Guts' subconsciousness trying to make sense of his own will

I am seeing this for the first time. I followed this all the way through. I must say my favorite part of this is actually the soundtrack. It makes me feel like I'm there, watching everything. Even parts that lack music are still strong. Berserk has become a legend that I won't forget.

Saving this for later. It paints a real vivid, if macabre perspective on the manga industry as a whole. And other institutions of work in Japan. Which is likely why death by overworking is so common in that country. Rest in Peace Muira, out of fervent work hours and non social interactions.

Interesting, does that just mean he wasn't paid well like "Old" Hollywood celebrities? After all, Berserk wasn't exactly released consistently, and he has gone on hiatus a lot, with jokes about him being obsessed with Idol M@ster. If he truly was that poor, both seemingly in wealth and in health despite such an iconic series, something is up.
It wasn't. He led a good life and toiled day in and day out on his passion. It takes hard work to build a universe and story as incredible as Berserk@@illusoryknowledge9307

The scene that tugged on my heartstrings the most was when Griffith returned and Casca ran to him and hugged him, and all of his men gathered around their commander, some laughing, others weeping in joy and relief that their beloved white hawk had returned to them, alive and well. I nearly wept myself, not because of what we all know happens to The Band of the Hawks in the future, but because of how much love and devotion they held for their regal leader. God damn, I'm teary-eyed again, as I type this...
Hand had this saved for some time and finally sat down to watch this. Your editing was superb. Thanks for this. I'm sure that Mr. Mura would've been proud.

0:39:25. This is Berserk. Griffith realizes his dream killed the little boy who wanted to be a knight. It’s so messed up. It’s what I love about this anime. It’s holding up a mirror at the human condition. Dreams, friendships, your place in the world.. every time I watch this, I learn something new.

Some animation house should gather the courage and make a Berserk series from A to Z from when Guts came into the world under that tree how he lost his adopted mother lived as mercenary under his adopted father until he killed him the escape when he got imprisoned the 2nd escape meeting the hawks the eclips lost children every single arc no skipping cutting censoring or other bs.
Id settle for just a new story about Guts new journey. I think thats what people most want to see....so he can come back years later and stand with Griffith as an equal. The Demon Kings had an unrealized role to play in this.

no problem, I'm guessing your out of the states or Canada. I've posted all 3 completed films of the Berserk Anime 1997 with a couple scene's from the 2012 films, but they're blocked in the States and Canada except for Egg of the King for some odd reason. Ya, I prefer a more film like viewing with less interruptions, some content is cut, but I think the best bits are they're.

you probably watched it by now, but there were scenes you missed. also I would recommend shows like Kingdom, Dororo, Samurai champloo, rurouni kenshin and the current airing Vinland Saga if you are into shows like this. I share the same love for historical shows.

Easily the best manga anime series ever created imo, if only they still made mature anime/manga like this these days, instead over the typical school uniform wearing childish bullshit we get now, I think attack on titans the only real one left that we see in the west.
I'm sure you know that is something of an oversimplification, two incredbily mature and deep recent anime are Fate Zero and Houseki no Kuni (very different). One is very obviously serious and mature, the other just does it in its own way, but you will find it if you are looking.
But yeah, I think I do get your point, there just is something unique about the animation and directing in old anime like Berserk, Evangelion, Ima, soko ni iru boku (my recommendation^^), etc. But it's not like today there are no mature anime anymore, perhaps they are harder to find because it's not what people hype up, and there is plenty other stuff people make a fuss about so the sheer quantity of everything might make it harder to find the pearls as well.

His one decision to leave changed the whole course of the story, or was it flow of causality.
It doesn't matter, Griffith's possession of the Crimson Behelit had set causality in motion, whether Guts had left him or not.
Really nice work! But a flashforward (opposite of flashback) at 20:27? But why? How does it make sense?
I like the reversal foreshadowing, that displays how Guts left the Band of the Hawk. Gut's left the Band of the Hawk for his dream and to show his friendship to Griffith. Then Griffith kills the members of the Band of the Hawk and rapes Casca. Essentially, this scene and the scene when Gut's defeats Griffith is no different. They're the outcome of Guts walking his own path. Another reason is due to the state of both the Manga and the Anime, I only see the Eclipse as the proper end to Berserk currently so I had no desire in putting the scene in after the Eclipse for the third film. I can understand people complaining about the choice as it is jarring, but honestly Kentaro Miura's Manga is Jarring as well, going between future, past, future. So, I got to edit in my own little spin to what I can edit together.
Also sinks up Skull Knights "Struggler" Plot quite well as the scene of Skull Knight I used in the third film is a better conclusion to Skull Knights "struggle is the only sword against Death", message.
Flashforward scene is amazing on multiple viewings BTW, I'm going to be re-editing these at some point, as I have clean copies now, got the 1997 on Blu-ray from Australia and OST's.
Ik im like 2 years late but without knowledge of the manga these movies are illustration abiguity through the future instead of the past which completely changes the formula and makes me atleast engaged to find out what the symbol means and why its there by the past which technically plays as the present for the audience as we need to see the beginning to reach the present... i like this edit...

Ok. I can't seem to follow this one. One minute they're in a cave after falling from a cliff. Then they're in another cave and he's all wounded and missing a hand and she doesn't know who he is. Then they're back in the cave together. Maybe another time.
They added footage, and you can tell the animation is newer with cgi. Still. It's good footage.
