Sanchez got red carded back with their match with Japan, for using hand ball on purpose, then he comes back on to play against England, and what does he do? Jump on top of Harry Kane like a redead from legend of Zelda and get another yellow card. Columbia wasted 20 minutes of the match arguing with the ref and they committed 23 fouls in total, whereas England committed 7 fouls.
If Sanchez did not commit any fouls, columbia would have won against england, but not sure if columbia would have won against sweden, croatia etc.

At the time, I was heartbroken when Mina scored the equaliser. In retrospect though, i'm so thankful because the penalty shootout was one of the most amazing moments of our world cup. Winning 1-0 through a scrappy, foul-filled abomination of a match would've been fine...but the passion that erupted in the nation upon seeing our boys finally break that curse...oh boy.
Absolutely. It was a much better way to win and taught us something we needed to learn: that we CAN win on penalties.

They started bringing up how rough Colombia were, but don't bring up the amount of times players like Maguire and Young were diving. It's very hypocritical and disgusting to claim such things, then have the ignorance to claim the ref was crap, when Kane clearly first was holding onto Sanchez, then stopping on purpose to draw the foul from him. Truth is England didn't have a major chance, except for the penalty, while Colombia had 3-4 major chances, without their star playmaker and the ref being against them. Judging from that, Colombia clearly outplayed them, but just to make themselves feel less insecure about their football, they go on about their dirty play.

This game was one of the dirtier games I've seen in this world cup. Maybe it's the stakes, but both sides sure lost respect for each other early.
