Those cars are being sold in Lesotho and other countries. Last I heard its hard to even buy these cars as South Africans. The government is protecting the automotive industry ( automotive jobs).
maybe you need to tell us which master, if you know basic economics, you will never utter ignorant comment like this. No wonder everything that black people touches turns into ashes.
You can afford the cars because you are employed in this country. What happens to the factories if the government allows cheap imports? What happened to steel manufacturing when the market was flooded with cheap Chinese steel? Look at the countries where the cars are going to in terms of jobs and the economy there then make up your mind if cheap cars justify strangling the economy
The auto industry in SA is subsidized by government with our tax money.. You can buy a brand new Toyota manufactured in SA cheaper in Botswana Namibia Zimbabwe
where did you get that nonsense? no such thing exist, SA government is protecting our motor industry from japan dumping these cars here affecting local assembly plants. There will be major job losses, shrinking taxes, is that what you want? people just use your brains. Many countries are doing these, they will never dump these cars in USA, Australia etc but because you are failing to think, every junk must be dumped here.
Second hand cars from other countries are not allowed in South Africa. The influx of used car imports negatively affects local car market sales, undermines local manufacturing, technological innovation and job creation
Yes that true but the bad side is the inflation of prices in our car manufacturers, it becoming impossible to own a car in South Africa, unless you become a slave on credit
These cars are brought in for cross border sales & in in bond...bond meaning no vat/customs duties if taken across....once it gets to the border: the buyers must clear the duties there then can they go over
In SA We assemble the cars and if we start to import second hand cars our local market will perish like few weeks ago Mercedes lay off 700 workers, they are like cheap Chinese cars, they are not cheap they come with an expanse of our local job and economy, like VW gives out more than R3 billion in salaries to South Africans if it closes those jobs will be lost and that cheap cars be not cheap anymore coz you will be not working and another thing is thing is those companies pays big tax that help with NSFAS to fund student
