  • Ride MAX Orange Line in real-time with this operator's perspective video.
MAX Orange Line is a 7.3 mile long light rail line in Portland, OR that opened in 2015, running from Portland City Center to Milwaukie and Oak Grove in North Clackamas County. On the Portland Transit Mall along 5th and 6th avenues, it shares tracks and stations with the Green and Yellow lines between Portland State University and Union Station.

This should go to Oregon City and be combined with a yellow line to Vancouver. Would solve a lot of car traffic in Portland

I think the Yellow Line was originally supposed to go to Vancouver but Vancouver didn't want to pay their fair share of construction.

Actually it’s because most Vancouverians (not including me because I love the MAX and all transport but I like trains more than busses) threw fits over people going over to Oregon and buying groceries to avoid sales tax (Stupid really) and unfortunately most Vancouverians don’t like transit at all. That will change by 2030 at the latest because right now the government is saying no MAX, no bridge and trust me, the I-5 bridge is getting old.

@@ShizuneHakamichi Unless you left out "City" (As in Oregon City doesn't want this like someone in this reply chain said about Vancouver), any state politicians who want to make transportation difficult for any reason needs to leave the state permanently.

I never understood why Orange and Yellow are separate. It would be pretty cool if Orange and Green met up in Oregon City and Orange/Yellow went into Vancouver.

@@PTB_BE Yellow line came first. Then they decided to extend it down to Milwaukee and gave it a brand new color for no reason except for marketing purposes. They should have realized there is a long-term benefit to just keep the name as the yellow line - since it is literally the same line - and reduce confusion. Hopefully they'll wake up one day and realize their awful mistake.

@@Sumguy21 Not all Yellow Line trains go to Milwaukie and not all Orange Line trains go to or from the Expo Center. Arguably it's less confusing to have both lines begin or end downtown, even if they're usually the same train, since that's how the great majority of riders use it. What's confusing is those Blue Line trains that end at Beaverton.
