I also miss going by transit-but I have to take this current Covid 19 virus into account. Our local bus service-DART-Des Moines Area Regional Transit-is advising riders to use the buses for "essential" trips only-groceries; pharmacies; medical facilities, et cetera.
The good video, therefore, I would like to see more on the other lines. But what I would like to see more is the D40lf bus back in the system and would like to see the 60-foot bus soon.
It's not flashing. The display reads the LRV's speed, so if it was driving safely, it'd say 15. Due to the bit where the screen refreshes at 60Hz, but the LRV's camera runs at 24Hz, or vise versa, it makes a rolling shutter effect that we see as flashing. Kind of like if you recorded a tv screen with a crappy phone camera.
It would add a lot if the video was in 4K. Also, I'd like it if the audio recording that is played approaching each stop was also incorporated into the sound track.
Making 4k videos would require modifying the LRVs themselves, which wouldn't be worth it as the main purpose for the cameras is to record incidents. Also, the announcements play inside the tram, so you wouldn't be able to hear them, kind of like how you can't hear the bell inside the tram.
They’re actually not computerized. The woman who does a majority of the voices is a Portland author named Jodi Lorimer, and the Spanish voice you hear is a Hillsboroan man named Enrique Andrade who has lived in the US since he was 13.
@@TheKaidynB I know that. What I think of when being recorded is that they’re actually canned voices and not the actual driver. But I do know they were recorded by real people plus, there are some alternate English voices recorded by a man named Bill Stevens
The voices are played through a PA system inside the LRVs. You can't hear them outside the tram for the same reason you can't hear the bell inside the LRV.
I need this for EVERY MAX LINE EVER.
Chris Simmons same.
agreed! This is a great way to see PDX from out of state
This is great! I vote Blue line next ;)
More videos of max lines!! :D
Good idea, do all the lines.. and it's great for when I'm pretending I'm the Flash on the treadmill.
This is an excellent comment, I loved it.

Thanks for the help, man! 😁
Would absolutely love to see some of the other max lines see this kind of love. Maybe some scenic bus lines too.
This video is actually relaxing. It's nice without all the usual chatter of other passengers. Not that that's bad. I just like rail sounds. 😊
Makes me want out of quarantine even more...
Me too!!!!
Right through my old neck of the woods... Loved riding this line too and from school.
More lines please! How I miss going by transit! 😥

I like how they have a flashing 15 sign for the operators at 3:51! To make sure they slow down

I don't hear any of the computerized voices. (E.G. "Doors to my right". "Puertas a mi derecha".)

The TriMet system is quite hamstrung by that elevator bridge
