    I misspoke in the video and wanted to clarify some things. A limiter is a very fast compressor in essence. It does its best to quickly turn down any peaks with its quick attack. This can be transparent to an extent, but when you push a limiter too hard it will result in a rough sounding distortion and artifacts. A clipper will actually chop off the peaks rather than turn them down like a limiter. This can be done lightly for a more transparent effect or aggressively for that clipping sound. Either way you will be feeding your limiter with less peaks so it can react to the audio more smoothly. Hope this helps.

    Found this channel yesterday and learned a few gem already when I thought I knew it all after 10 years at this on the production side. Keep killing it Jerry!

    What i really like about your videos ist the fact that you actually provide usefull tips in the right context. There are so many channels and some provide good knowledge too, but more often than not the information ist not connected to a real world szenario or a concrete situation. The best example for a really helpfull, easy to understand video ist your clip about how to gainstage. That alone was super helpfull for me and is something i incorparated in my production process like i have always know it. Keep up the good work !

    you would put this last in your signal chain on something like a kick or drum bus right? Last meaning before any time effects

    • @mixwithjerry
      @mixwithjerry  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exactly. Try to get the kick or snare (whatever you’re clipping) to sound the way you want as far as volume, EQ, and compression goes and then clip it for headroom.

    Hi man, i have a little question
    Do you personally use drum bus like only kick+snare or you also route hi-hat and perc mixertracks to the same bus?

    • @mixwithjerry
      @mixwithjerry  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I route kick, snare, hi-hat, open hat, claps, snaps, and crash. I also route my 808s there too but a lot of people have their own 808 bus
