- A surprisingly high amount of people actually dont realise you can manage as any real player on FIFA, and its super easy to do! Today i’ll be showing you exactly how, and sharing seven options that I think will lead to a super fun career mode save.
Of course its not a given that a world class footballer becomes a world class manager, but thankfully that doesnt matter on FIFA! Thats what makes this part of career mode so interesting. Every option i’ve found today is believable, I’m not going to suggest Kobee Mainoo retiring at 18 years old.

I did do a Henderson save with the final goal of becoming Liverpool boss, it was pretty fun starting in Holland, going to Portugal and then Spain before LFC

George Friend is a realistic lower league option at Bristol Rovers, real face from when Boro were in the Prem and is a realistic age (35). He won't be in the database for long as he has just retired to become their director of football

I’ve just started using Thiago Alcantara from Liverpool. Due to injuries he’s retired with the aim of winning La Liga with Barca, The Bundesliga with Bayern and the premiership with Liverpool
In FIFA 22 I did a save with Milner where I played a season as a player and then went to Mainz and won the EL and CL and then doing the same with Lyon and then went to Liverpool. By then, all of Liverpool's young players had hit their potential. I had to re-sign Harvey Elliott and also had to sign Curtis Jones for Lyon cause Liverpool had sold him to West Ham. Still to this day my most fun save in FIFA since 13 or 14

I did an Akinfenwa manager career mode and it was so funny when doing interviews/press conferences, he had a generic skinny body that looked so wrong 😂
I've done the Lukas Podolski save before and it's pretty damn cool. I also usually roll with luka Modric and do a Club/Country save since the Croatian national team is in game.
I've chosen Andre Ayew, the Ghanaian Captain who started his Career at 1860 Munchen (who currently compete in 3. Liga - Germany). This also happened to be the same club his famous father (Abedi Pele) played at during his Career. To get Andre Ayew in a position to start out his managerial Career at 1860 Munchen I had to move him from Le Havre in (Ligue 1 - France) to Furth FC in Germany before starting the save. Then I started my Player Career with Furth FC where I retired him straight away. When I retired him I received an offer to manage 1860 Munchen. Now that I have Andre Ayew as the Manager of 1860 Munchen, I'm hoping to get the team promoted to the Bundesliga. Once I'm there, I hope to qualify and win the Europa and/or Champions League. Along the way, I'm hoping to receive an offer from Marseille (where he and his father also played during their player careers). At Marseille I'd like to win Ligue 1 and the Champions League. Lastly, and possibly the most important, I'd like to be offered the position to Coach the Ghana Black Stars and win the World Cup! I think this will be a fun Manager Road To Glory! Also - Wouldn't it be GREAT if EA created a more in depth Manager Career Mode like they have attempted to do for Player Career Mode where you have an Agent that you work with in order to grow your Career as a Manager. Imagine how good it would be to have Clubs that you Target; Interviews; Hirings; Contract Signings; Firings; the whole nine yards. I hope EA bring this in soon!
I do this every year, I did CR7 2020. Augero, Cesc, Zlatan. I’m thinking to do Cazorla or Iniesta this year
The king of career mode content
It’s actually impossible to get certain clubs when you first retire. Derby County are a prime example - try it. No matter what player you use, or what club you start at, it’s not possible for them to appear as an option.
Have you tried starting the player on a team in the same league as Derby?
Im thinking about the young gotze, in this reality he starts to struggle with injuries again and decides to call it a day, then you get to manage a second division team and eventually end up leading Dortmund to their first champions league, he will have a surprisingly boring play style, maybe park the bus or something super traditional like a 4-4-2.
I would also like emre can, he was a cam and striker at the sub17 world cup they lost against mexico, he now plays as a cdm or center back, thats knowing all the pitch very well, that guy has so many pending trophies and it just looks so class in a suit hahah
currently doing this w/ Thiago Alcantara, started at Bournemouth & i'm currently managing Bayern Munich which was going through a horrible time by 2027. it's a good time. i see him moving to Barça & then Liverpool before reaching 15 seasons.
I did this with Giroud and started at french side Ajaccio before winning the serie A with Milan. I also modded Zlatan to be my assistant manager when i finnaly came to Milan

You could try to do a Jonny evans manager career mode working your way up to Man Utd or trying to bring Leicester back to the top
I actually will usually play a season or two before retiring if a player is aged but not terribly aged. For example, I played as Modrić and then played until 2026 World Cup then retired after that and started Manager
Neuer at Schalke is an obvious one. He was born and raised in Gelsenkirchen and spend his youth career there.
ive done this and the best part is when retiring at bayern you almost always get the schalke job straight away!

Michael Bradley is actually currently the assistant manager at Stabæk in Norway, with the manager actually being his Dad.
If you edit the rosters before you start the player career, once you switch it to the a manger mode with the retired player, will the rosters reset at all or will the edited roster from the myPlayer save swap,over to the manager mode as well?
I have done 2 career modewith players, I have done Alessandro Nesta (managed Verona,Lazio,Venezia,Burnley,Bayern Munich and now Arsenal) with Nesta, I prioritized the defensive formation and develop the center backs (made Antonio Silva the best centerback itw) , i played with 3-4-2-1, 4-3-3, 4-3-2-1. Won the conference League with Lazio and Europa League with Bayern.
Meanwhile also this year, I'm doing a career with Sergio Busquets. Started ad Colorado Rapids then mid-season switched for Inter Miami which I won the MLS at the first season, and after the end of the 2nd season I switched for Benfica. The goal Is to win everything with Barcelona and Spain. The tactics are based on Tiki-Taka, tried 2 formations which were successful (4-3-3 and 4-1-4-1)
Do a Tim Krul manager career. He is world cup penalty hero (2014). Also he had more than 300 games in PL and Championship. With him u can make a Dutch focused team like Wolfes did with Portugese players.
There’s been recent rumors of Aaron Cresswell retiring and immediately getting a coaching job within West Ham. Could also be a fun save.
Joao Moutinho can be a fun one, did one with him a few years ago
Currently doing a Ngolo Kante save with Paris fc and trying to go up against psg and win some Ligue 1 and champions league titles
Lasse Schone is a good option, Curtis Davies for a lower league is also another great build
What settings do you use to make the gameplay more realistic?
I am doing Bonucci at the moment.
Started in Korea for 6 months winning the k league.
Moved to Genk winning 3 leagues and 2 cups.
Season 4 now and got a move to Juventus.
Accept it and create a world class back 3 like Juventus did in 2010s with Barzagli , bonucci and chiellini , I did this with chiellini on fifa 23 and retired him also I did a 3-5-2 formation after winning the serie a with Parma and I actually got buffons regen to help me out which was magical then I got an offer to Juventus and well the goalkeeper was sorted so I had to recreate the dominating juve side which was completed after 3 seasons of my own player plus I got Ronaldos regen to help me out dominate serie a and win them the champions leagues they failed to get in that period
I retired Arturo Vidal and started a Manager Career with FC Dallas, I signed Alexis Sanchez and several players with neck tattoos. I'm 5th in the Western Conference and leading the league in red and yellow cards.
I just started a Valencia CM with Juan Mata, as he is currently a free agent and one of Valencia's former players.

Just started a career mode with Dele Alli at Sheffield United, hope to get them as a top half / Europe side and wait for a Spurs offer
Sunnil Chettri as a manager is also a good idea. Starting atw from the Indian Super League to conquer Europe
I do this all the time to takeover a relegation team mid season. Create a player who will be a manager and put them in a good team in the league you want. Start a career mode, sim till January, and retire.

I'm Albiol and I swapped venezia for river plate in Argentina I've noticed a lot of old players over 30 I've upgraded by doing the best with my £27M budget signing 37 year old ruidger from villa and 36 year old Andrew Robinson got to keep the fans happy bringing older stars in. My journey from villareal as a player for 1 season as a player then B team coach for 1 season until taking over salzburg then benfica,juventus got fired went to venezia and then river plate .
The problem with using Henderson is the chance you can lose six ingame months due to cat flap.

For me, İlkay Gündoğan is a good choice you may consider. Although he may still have a few seasons to play in real life until retirement, I like the idea of retiring him sooner in the game as a manager.
The main reason is because Pep once said that he believes Gündoğa will be a good manager because of his great leadership and tactical mindset. Also, Gündoğa not only had played under Pep, he also played under Klopp, who is also considered as one of the greatest mangers. With the knowledge inherent from the 2 great managers, I can imagine he will indeed be a good manager.
If you want the MLS and Bundensliga try Damir Kreilach, the 34 year old Croatian player currently plays for Vancouver but was a legend at Real Salt Lake and a solid player for Union Berlin, try retiring him, get the Real Salt Lake manager job, lead them to an us cup or a second MLS title before trying to get Union Berlin

Probably retire start off in the Belgian league work your way up to try and takeover Napoli be the manager to continue the legacy of the Naples and try to do one better then what Maradona did during his playing days by winning the Champions League.
