This is what works for me, I got the error message on my iPhone.
I removed my sim card from my iPhone and inserted it into an android phone, then signed up on the android. After signing up on the android, I opened WhatsApp on my iPhone and signed up, so the verification code was sent to that android phone and I entered it to my iPhone and it worked.

Nothing works, tried removing and reinstalling app, its 7 days now, as per support there is no ban on my number.
Tried sim on another phone, tried with wifi, with data, tried with 1 sim only, nothing works, repeated it 100 times already.
No calls, no sms, nothing comes.
