Bloody genius, I will definitely consider your idea as I plan this repair. My switch broke about 10 seconds after the truck warranty was lapsed, the switch parts were not in the console after coming apart but the problem is that the switch halves come apart after about 4 uses, they are not glued or otherwise secure to stay together. Am a DIY Suzy…luv’s her ram! The most scary aspect of dealing with plastic parts is the probability they are prone to breakage with age. Having an intelligent well-spoken demo about where those pesky “clip-locations” exist and the direction of installation “movement” makes all the difference in preparation of task success! Please help me with the wiring on this ...I tried to watch your video super closely pressing play pause play pause play pause (lol) through the time lapse section but never could quite get a good view of how you have it wired. Currently I'm using yellow pink (power constant) and black (ground) and it's blowing fuses and staying on constant (even with dimmer switch down and doors shut) no matter what combination I put together on the three pole toggle switch so I'm at a loss ... anything you can do to help would be much appreciated thank you!
Any chance you can show how you tied the wires together the factors which has two black one yellow how did you tie them to the new switches did you use all three wires are just two??
Had same problem, just replaced the plastic switch with a pushbutton toggle switch. Question - What is holding the garage door remote cover in place? When open, mine falls out. Is there a spring clip that holds it like the sunglasses holder door?
If I remember right it’s a plastic clip that holds it closed but Velcro that hold the opener in place for the button to push. It’s like little Lego pieces of different lengths to make it push the button.
@@troysgarage Ooops, I probably miss worded that. The door closes fine, and clips in place. BUT when opened, the door hangs down, and falls right out. And I cant see what is supposed to keep the door from falling out. Nothing looks broken so I assumed I was missing some sort of spring type clip to keep the door connected to the console.
None would be key only up there. You want power all the time so you can use the lights whether the key is on or not. That’s why you need a switch for the lights.
Now how did u wire it cause my switch lights up with no bulb on but if I hit the switch bulb comes on but switch doesn’t light up but if I switch the wires my center dome light stays on so I’m just trying to figure out how you did this thanks
I've since sold the truck so I can't verify exactly how I wired it. I did have to kind of try a couple things before it worked the way you see it in the end of the video. Don't be scared to temp connect and try a few different methods, you'll get it. I'm sure of that. 👍
@@troysgarage good deal! Mines barely broken in. 1999 cummins 157k no rust from down south. Ive had it here in northern wisconsin 3 years now, parked in winter. Im getting the itch to drive it during winter. I might dump a bunch of fluid film on it lol.
Yours is missing the lever that presses the garage door opener button. (MAN I’ve gotten much better at TH-cam since these early days. Had to watch it to understand what you meant. That is cringe worthy. LOL)
+Barry Slack you noticed. Haha 😂 yup mine broke about a year ago. Although it's semi annoying it actually stays mostly closed even with sunglasses in it. Doesn't rattle either, if it did I would for sure be replacing it. Right now I'm using my parts budget for more important things like WHEELS! They are ordered. Watch for than video in December! 🙌🏼
Hey, the time lapse is okay at times but we need to know which wires you hooked to each prong on the switches. There is the power accessory and ground. Which does the black wire go to? Which does the yellow wire go to? Which does the white wire coming out of the bulb socket go to? Can you please tell us how you hooked the wires up? I'm in dire need of assistance as I started this yesterday while watching your video but there is nothing online about which color wires go where
They sell the one switch on Amazon... Design sucks so it will break again. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe in 20yrs. I'm putting in a rv dome light for brightness. Dimmer switch. And relativity. Gonna look a bit goofy at 14inches by 6 inches ....

Can you help with the wires? I'm getting 12 volts constantly. I'm only using yellow and black, not sure what color is key only.
None would be key only up there. You want power all the time so you can use the lights whether the key is on or not. That’s why you need a switch for the lights.

Thanks for showing how to get the console off and disconnecting wires. Why not buy a new dodge wires and switch harness and keep it factory??
