In this Let's Play video, you will see me play Heart of the Machine (Release Early Access). Heart of the Machine is a Tactical Turned Based Strategy (TBS) Role Playing Game (RPG) with base building mechanics. You are an awaken sentient AI born in a futuristic city (Blade Runner like vibes here) in which you will raise an army of robots that you control and create a network link of production buildings (city builder / base building). The city has an AEon Flux and Terminate Skynet Rise of Machines vibes. We start with Tutorial mission (Prologue) to learn some of the early mechanics of the game and transition into Act 1 of the Campaign. This game is a bit confusing at first and is very unique with the open world exploration. There are various decision making moments here where you will decide how you want to solve the problems presented and depending on what you pick will evolve your AI's Personality. For example, How much Housing and Shelter you want to provide for the homeless humans and how much food you want to give them. There are various factions in the city that you will need to decide how you want to approach them. Whichever you choose, your decisions will ripple across the chaos of time, with actions in one timeline having unexpected consequences on others. "Heart of Machine" also reminds me of these games: "Syndicate", "Technotopia" and "Rogue AI Simulator". This game is being released on Jan 31th into Early Access. I think the static sound with the wind is supposed to be rain bouncing off hard objects such as your Android metal body or what ever you are made of.

Game is too big brain for me trying to play on my steam deck

I might have turned the volume down a bit later in the stream.
The generic backstory, i.e. "evil megacorps, downtrodden underclass" is not unique enough. When you're this creatively lazy, you fall into mediocrity with all of the other similar games.
I disagree with you.
Yeah it’s a common genre. But the gameplay and story itself is great.
And if you think it isn’t great. Just look at some of the achievements. Madly cool.
Generic start state for a world doesn't make something uncreative in and of itself. No different than a fantasy game having dwarfs that like to dig and elves the live in forests. Or a military shooter taking place in either cold war/WW2. It gives everyone a start point they know and are familiar with so you don't have to spend 25% of your game explaining the setting and lore to help people understand it. As long as you execute your game and story well it can be a great game and still have a generic setting.
