A better explanation is when the car starts from cold it always fires up the petrol engine to get it into a working condition with the lubricants nice and warm circulating every part of the engine. More importantly when the user has a need of heated warm air it makes sense the engine cooling system is functional. Therefore the designer of MG HS Phev needs a reasonable "hot" cooling water circuit to power the heater. The heat is provided as a byproduct of the ICE engine cooling at no extra cost to the user. However if the user wants to have a heated environment before the ICE engine has been adequately warm up then MG must install extra electric heater in the car. This adds extra cost to the car but most importantly drain the 16.6 kWh battery needed for the 90kW electric motor. MG prefers to get over this problem by a slight delay to the user's requirement instead. That is perfectly understandable because after running the ICE engine for say over one mile the coolant will be sufficiently hot to permit the MG user to switch into the EV mode. That is certainly my experience and the designer of MG HS Phev has my vote for making this arrangement..

Hello, I am writing to you from Turkey. Unfortunately, my English is not very good. I am writing to you using Google Translate. I am also having the problem of leaving the vehicle's ev mode. I could understand some of what you said, but if you can write to understand it in detail, I can understand it better through translate.
I can understand that when we use the air conditioner in the car, it goes out of ev mode, but the house I live in is in a high part of the city and I go down a long hill on my way to work and here it goes out of ev mode even though the air conditioner is off. I would appreciate it if you could write the reason, thank you.

Does it happen when your vehicle is fully charged? If you go down a long hill, the regenative braking would generate too much charge into the battery, that might force the vehicle to go out of EV mode as you are not using any of the EV power. Hope that helps.
