    Awsome job cleaning that mess up! I hope they had you do an annual on that in the future! Between the spiders, dirt and that dryer vent the unit needs it! I really enjoy hearing your down to earth thoughts on things! Great job!

    I agree about not connecting gauges to a packaged unit every time. Nice job

    That road reminded me of what we have to put up with here in West Virginia. Just wider.

    Ted I’m glad you talked about putting gauges on every unit. DT can tell you a good amount about the charge. PM’s and obvious problem no hook up. Unless customer says it was not cooling before unit broke

    When you hook up your gauges and have those 5' hoses like we most do we are taking a little bit of refrigerant each time we do so.I have been using smart probes if a HVAC system that is not working correctly or get a decent Delta Split.Great video Ted and I have been using same coil cleaner in my sprayer for a while now that works great lifting and removing dirt, dust out of coil.Peace Man😁😁😁

      My gauges stay charged at all times... unless the low loss fitting fails on the hoses. It is usually the red one when it happens but for the most part I do not introduce any oxygen or impurities to the system every time I connect to it. I keep 4 sets in my van, 2 smans for 410 and 22... one analog for older junk systems, and one analog for pressure testing only.

    I have a unit like this, but with metal louvers, that I just cleaned. It hadn’t been cleaned in a couple of years, but it was nowhere as dirty! My dryer vent is on the opposite side of the house, though.

    Good stuff Ted! I know I'm labeled as a Supertech 😜😝 by some guys but I agree with you. Opening the refrigerant circuit usually should only be done when there is a refrigerant issue. When I refer to checking the charge on a service call in my videos, I am referring to the non invasive method. This is when you take line temps along with some simple math without the use of any gauges. I have a video coming up that covers this method in detail in the next week or two. Keep up the good work buddy!!

      @TedCookHVAC  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree 100%... thats why I always keep my gauges charged and use the hoses everyone hates. But I dont hook them up unless I need to. Also, check and/or remove filters to read delta T.

      kerryithm2 I was around in the beer can cold days too. Unfortunately that was a terrible way to assess a refrigerant charge. lol

    Ted. That’s a great great call on the gauges. I find that some folks that put them on create more problems. 18-22*. You rock. Great video. Have a great weekend. God bless.

    the old saying applies to not gauging up unless there's an issue "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" chances are it will be after fiddling around

    Have heat pump driers not gotten to the US yet? They don't exhaust any air, it recycles it and keeps filtering it, cooling it and reheating it and uses very little energy doing so.

    23 degree Delta T, no need to put gauges on it. I wouldn't have either. I would suspect some ductwork issues, but most likely nothing you could resolve quickly.

    I got a question is it too much to ask of a text to chemically clean a 7 1/2 ton Trane rooftop unit that has three rows of coils shouldn't he need a helper to make the job go smoothly ? Especially if there's a double curb best lifting unit higher-than-normal

    I was wondering how you removed the side plastic panels that were covering the coils you cleaned? I have this unit and I’m not sure how to remove them. Thanks!

      Remove screws, push up and then out at bottom.

    You can bet that much garbage on the coils wasn't from one season. I'm betting it hasn't been touched by anyone for four years. Did you notice the leaves in the gutters? The problem is the homeowner that's too lazy to do some basic annual maintenance.

      Spiders. When he is vacuuming you will see areas where the webs seem real strong. They are! Those are from the bulb back spiders like black widows and the like.
