Takes me back to being a kid. I was no older than 10 and I would mow our lawn and a bunch of neighbors lawns.

oh my, you just reminded me exactly how much I appreciate my electric mower. I've been with her about a year by now, and I see from watching this, I was beginning to forget how much I need her. I was beginning to take her for granted. I'm going right now to give her a hug and tell her how much I value her..thank you htd
I have this exact petrol Ryobi mower for six years. It starts on one yank every time and cuts like a fucking monster. Electric.....fuck off you pussy.
My dad passed away last year and he was such a dad that he always insisted on starting his petrol mower for me even when I wanted to help 😂 So I still don’t know how to start one (mine is electric). You’ve been a good substitute dad with this demonstration ❤

I'm a 25 year old female. Ive mowed the lawn plenty of times. However today I had a full on sook because I couldn't start it. Your video helped to remind me about the primer pump. So I was then able to mow the lawns . Cheers, keep up the good stuff - Cat - Warragul

Very informative. Who would know a primer pump? a "big red squishy boil" anyone can find. Please write a manual like this.🤣🤣
Sadly, either they hid the little boil thingy on my mower, OR it did not come with one. (The second answer is the correct one) and I can't figure out how to get it started easily. You tubed etc... still unknown. I pull and pull till it starts, about the 20th yank. It works, it was free. Eventually I will get a new one WITH a red boil! Thanks @HowtoDad.
get a spoon and drop a few drips of fuel in the carburetor. itwill start much more easily.
Would be more fun if more manufacturers adopted the pictograph approach.

They are also very handy when facing a horde of zombies, as illustrated in well known tutorial video Braindead. Do not mix up the instructions with this one about lawns.
we have water restrictions and plastic lawns. will keep in mind for if when we have water and actual lawns again.

I just open the black lid, chuck in a battery the size of a small suitcase, squeeze the handle thingy....and push a big green button ! 😂
And whatever you do, don't wear jandals when mowing!

I'm currently collecting materials I can use to teach the Cert 1 in Horticulture (the most basic course you can do), and I've got to say; the subtle passive aggression in this video is perfect dad behavior.
And when you have yanked the f........ing thing a gazillion time and it still wont start and you are in a state of godzilla you realise that maybe it's just better to get a sheep
Have to disagree HTD, that is called a motor mower, a push mower has no motor. Also, a tip for the less strong among us, hold onto the handle with one hand and the pull cord with the other then, simultaneously pull the cord and push the mower, SOOO much easier than trying just with the cord.
Helped alot mate starting my machine.

Ah yes, when I lived in NZ for a year, we had that thing. I was a bit scared as I assumed that meant, just like in the Netherland, I wouldn’t be able to sit in the garden all summer as everyone just keeps on “doing the garden”. But was pleasantly surprised, it’s fast and then we’re done. Nice pie, beer and off you go.

I'm sad there were no tips on what to do if it refuses to start, including kicking it, swearing at it, and just putting it back in the shed for an hour with a diagnosis of "flooding".

Where I live, most lawn mowers are electric (cable or battery). So no primary pump and no yanking.

What was the commercial? For the fuel station do you mean? Kuz I thought that was legit just him needing fuel as that’s why his mower stopped on him…
That looks massively complicated. I have a battery powered mower, I use it then put it on charge when I return it to the shed. Never had any problems starting it or need for an instruction manual. Press start to turn it on, press off to turn it off or let go of the handle. Adjust the hight with the ↑ and ↓ buttons.
The idea of messing around just to start it or it running without a deadmans switch in the handle is horrifying.
Booring! How can you annoy the neighbours at 6am on a Sunday with that?
