I gave up everything to play church and follow Jesus with the rest if the body of Christ.
People are leaving the lds church in droves. Wards are being combined and the gaslights are turned on brighter than ever to convince members that they are the one true church. God bless you and your ministry

Around 33:00 you talk about people who leave the church feeling that their life has no value and how this particular leader explicitly teaches that. I can relate as I have been processing the trauma of trying to earn love and approval from so many aspects in my life, especially spiritually. The belief that my mind accepted about myself is that I am disposable. I am disposable, I am replaceable, I am not precious. Not unless I conform. The thing is, even when I did conform I wasn't treated as precious. What a journey leaving the church has been for me!

I felt that way while listening to this talk but don't feel that way now. Every life has value, your life has value.

I encourage you to seek out a Bible believing, Bible teaching church. Not trying to influence you but the Baptist are excellent when it comes to teaching the Bible.

@@KathyStrickland-nh9vx I appreciate your suggestion. I was at an Assemblies of God Church for the last few years. I recently moved to a different state and have been open to all denominations. Thanks again for your comment.

This is what drives families apart. Those of us who know it is not true and are willing to love them where they are at.

Could not agree with you more. I think his messaging in really hurtful to those of us outside the church.

Luke 9:49-50 "those who aren't against me are for me " jesus tells off his apostles for not being tolerant of other people who were doing similar things.
Putting down others isnt a conversation.
Please do better. Its unchristian. If you share your experiences fine.
I am an lds convert. i agree with you that all people have a right to God. But any person in any church can become short sighted. Its the nature of human beings to put things in boxes. Christ tries to help us out those boxes.
Im seen and met christ (outside my body) since i was 8 years old. I know he's more loving than us.
It is also disappointing when leaders go rouge.

      Andrew,
My content is not purely intended to hurt anyone in the church. I was very hurt by the theology and lies of the church. It would not be honest, for me to "turn a blind eye" to those things while talking about my journey out. I hope that makes sense.

I think you are missing the point on so many things. Let's take the idea of the cross as being a revelation blocker. I've never heard this before but it clear to me that in this instance the cross symbolizes non-lds Christianity. The idea is simple; non-lds denominations do not understand and/or value revelation. Examples...how often do protestants tell their congregants to not read and pray about the Book of Mormon. This is telling people to not search for God's input in their lives; anti-revelation. The doctrine of sola escritura is by its nature against revelation. Wilcox is highlighting the fact that other Christians are led by people that do not want and are not interested in continuing revelation. He is not talking about an exclusion but an important uniqueness. The Vatican is quick to point out that the popes are not inspired by God ie no revelation. If you are going to get mad at Wilcox for discussing that God sends messengers to lead people by revelation ie prophets I don't understand why you would not be upset with the entire old testament.

I am going to push back on the idea that the Mormon Church is currently lead by revelation. On paper, the quorum of the 12 and 1st presidency, are "prophets, seers, and revelators". Over my life-time what have they "prophesied", what have they "seen", and what have they "revealed". I would say the last thing that has happened has been the priesthood ban in 1978. Really a product of the time and atleast a decade late.

Praying about the Book of Mormon: absolutely _nowhere_ in the Hebrew bible (Old Testament) is anyone ever instruction to pray to receive "revelation" about a claim. On the contrary, people are instructed to live by the Torah and compare the claims of prophets to the Torah, and to reject any ideas about God that contradict it. Moreover, in the New Testament, while there is an element of "spiritual revelation", the apostles are clear that spirits or spiritual experiences must be _tested against_ what the apostles have taught and are warned that seemingly good spiritual experiences can be from Satan and demons. Moreover, true apostles are ones that display signs of an apostle, which involves working miracles. Mormon apostles don't do this. They are fake apostles. If one prays about the Book of Mormon, ones should ask for _wisdom_ not a _feeling_ . And if one does receive a feeling or some "spiritual confirmation" one should be suspicious of it and _test it rigorously_ . Here's my testimony: I prayed about the Book of Mormon. God led me to the knowledge that it is a fraud, concocted in the 19th century.

Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things. Christians don't need a burning in their bosom and I would no more read the bom than I would the satanic bible. So much of the lds religion is based on feelings. The truth and history about the church is continually being rewritten to adjust to changing attitudes. We Christians know this and that is why people are told not to pray about the bom being "true". Granted, Christians have some bizarre beliefs, like believing in a virgin birth, a man performing miracles and Him being crucified, dying and resurrecting (which is why we honor the cross). But we have much historical and archeological evidence for the Bible and the life of Christ. The bom has nothing. It was borne from the wild imagination of an egotistical treasure hunter/seer that would do anything for money, power, authority and sex. Then those attributes were grabbed by an even more power hungry narcissist, BY, and the rest is mormon history, however slanted it has become. Christians don't consider lds to be Christians. If you knew anything about the Bible and Christianity you would know that. Christianity was never lost therefore it didn't need to be restored. It is documented and can be followed from Christ right up to the very day JS decided it needed to be "restored". You people have been mislead down a very twisted, demonic path. "Many shall come in my name", Mat. 24:5.

@@JesusForMormonspodcastVery good. And the only reason things changed in 1978 is because of societal push-back. JS and BY were extremely racist people and times started really changing in the 1960s and the lds church had to do something, just like the government and polygamy. The church has "revelations" and hears from God when it has to adapt to the changing norms. It continually rewrites its history and tries to cover it up as members age and forget or aren't taught what was original teachings. It is a huge money oriented business in it for just that. There is no Christianity in mormonism.

@@KathyStrickland-nh9vx They just changed the temple garments this last week and people are pretty upset about how it conforms to societal standards and is not from God. On a side note, my wife and I are getting remarried in the next few years, my wife picking a dress that does not have to conform with the "Mormon Church" standards is partly why.
Take care my sister is Jesus!
