Bro just be bold and say that these protests are damaging all international student reputation and especially Indian community. I know Canada has changed a lot but that doesn’t mean u can protest. Why would Canada think about Indian students or any international students. Canada govt will/should only think about their own citizens first and do things in their interest. If you are poor or middle class in India then you should not go to Canada for study. If Canada govt don't want these students anymore, it's completely fine and it's their country. Canada has, for decades, been in the top 10 of safest and least racist countries on planet Earth. Plus prosperous. Now there is a new negative spin that most Canadians do NOT deserve to a high degree. People must look at both sides.
Since 2020, international students have been flocking to a educational system that many Canadians now feel was used by many of them as a loophole-to-immigration. Students utilizing schooling as a back-door (not front-door) ticket to living in Canada. Swarming a 50+ year tradition/system that was not not NOT designed to be about every international student INSISTING on receiving Permanent Residency. Plus it was not designed to be primarily about students demanding lengthy work permits (& spouse permits etc.). Canadians have clued in that Canada's post secondary education system has (in 5 years time) turned into what many are now jokingly calling EDUGRATION. An extreme not approved by everyday Canadians.
What about Ghost Consulting that Canada told India to halt? Canadians want $ greedy foreign agents to stop marketing & lying to their own people about access to PR or citizenship … or accommodation/jobs … in places like Canada being relatively easy. At best, there is a 20% chance of PR (better odds if career is in HIGH demand).
And what about all the YT videos that primarily Indian nationals have posted (for half a decade now including today) all advertising Canadian PR like they're selling a product? Promoting Canadian visas & permits & schools & jobs etc. etc.. Videos not only posted hourly but rarely in English or French. With very very rare input from Canadian-born citizens.
Plus Canada didn't have numerous PRIVATE 'diploma mills' until 40% of international students were from India. Coincidence? Mills that Canada is shutting down. AND the bulk of them are near Brampton Ontario and Surrey B.C.. Coincidence? Canada is now compelling ALL schools to report to Immigration whether a student is attending school and complying with permit requirements or not. Were Canadian public colleges & universities greedy too (while honest)? Sure. But the Canadian government stepped in and slowed them down too (like a trustworthy government should).
Are most international students truly scholars who came to Canada with enough $ to support themselves while STUDYING? Or economic migrants, who borrowed $ to buy their way closer to the head of the immigration line? To say all the students or their consultants have not been at times 'gaming' Canada's education programs to gain western PR or $ is ridiculous. Students have contributed to Canada's severe housing crisis and lack of entry jobs because 90% conspire-to-outstay a TEMPORARY permit.
Canada wants to help people, but not when it contributes to severe home unaffordability and a recession. If 36,000,000 Canadians travelled to India, since 2020, with the goal of being able to stay there permanently, that would raise India's population by 2.65%. Recent asylum seekers crossing into Canada… and international students... have raised Canada's population higher than 2.65%. More needing healthcare too (affecting waiting times etc.).
What about the IELTS spouses? Anchor babies? Fraud? False asylum claims? What about Canadian food banks & other charity services being recklessly advertised on YT in Indian languages? What about Canadian housing being scooped up en-mass as investment vehicles by/for internationals? Home rental/boarding signs stating "vegetarians only can apply". Indian nationals buying local businesses then putting Indians only in key positions (while also drastically changing work practices that include working more hours for less money). Plus BC & Ontario are outlawing the Caste System.
Then throw in the Sikh vs Hindu violence/extortions across Canada. Diasporas stirring up tribal hatreds (in Canada) … even though it all stems from their ancestral home. How can peace be found anywhere with this in play? Plus the Canadian government recently launched investigations in regards to foreign interference in Canadian elections, stemming from Asia continent. Canada also had to end flagpoling at the border.
In recent years, Canadians are having to worry about their automobile being stolen by auto theft rings. For just one example of what Canadians see regarding this new concern research; "arrests in connection with $9.24M Toronto-area auto theft ring". Research; "Gold stolen in Canada's biggest ever heist ended up in India". On YT look up "TorontoPolice News Conference Project Déjà Vu". Major scams involving foreign call centres too.
Canadians are so so so not used to all this. So many, who have embraced multi-culturalism and immigration for decades are now worried/fearful. All are praying it doesn't turn into anger. Canadians want multi-culturism to succeed and for all people (including immigrants) to be okay. Everyone I know is VERY happy with IRCC's recent changes (reductions & multifaceted investigations etc.). Including multi-generational long-term Asian Canadians MOST upset (by all of this).
Canadians are aware that some wonderful students/humans are going through hell. And know Canada is partially to blame which is awful. But Canada decides what needs to be done in Canada to prevent further pains. Do you see Canadians protesting in other countries (that is not their own) making demands for themselves? No. Do Canadians now see primarily Indians protesting in Canada making demands? Yes. Protesting because they don't have the credentials to stay in Canada. And because rules designed to protect CANADA are not meeting their desires/demands. And why isn't there crowds of African or Caribbean or Filipino etc., students protesting & waving their flags? They're in Canada too.
Did international students and their families pay into Canadian taxes all their lives like domestic students have (earning cheaper tuition fees)? No.
Did Canada force internationals to move to Canada as a STUDENT? No.
Did Canada promise/guarantee PR? Or a job? No & no.
Yet do they only blame Canada when they can't get PR???

Look up Human Rights Index 2023. Canada is ranked 13th. USA is 17th. India 109th.

Someone mentioned earlier, that getting a PR is a privilege earned and not demanded! Students, Non-immigrants, and Immigrants need to understand Canada is NOT their native country, therefore Canada can mend their policies whenever however they deem right. No matter how much money you have spent to move to Canada whether to study or settle, you took a risk/chance/rolled dice that "What if I don't get approved for PR". The risk was always there, it was an easy risk at the moment, however a RISK!

Funniest thing is, most of these 'students' hate immigrants coming into India. Or coming into 'their state' from another Indian state, bringing different language, religion or culture. It's shocking the views they have about the "others". Especially towards black folks.
But they expect Canadian citizens to bend over for them. Entitlement and hypocrisy is next level with these fine specimens. Most don't even speak the official language(s) when protesting and expect to be taken seriously while waving foreign flags.
The diploma mills never should've been allowed. Many of the strip mall colleges or diploma mills have investors from the same background as the 'students'. It was 100 percent a backdoor immigration route created for those who can't get into a reputable institution. We need to ask the provincial governments to shut down the diploma mills. Provincial governments helped create this mess, not just the federal.

These costs are choking average Canadians who were overtaxed to begin with and they blame it on the students. The governments and businesses supporting this fraud in India and Canada are to blame as they are the ones being enriched by this fraud. I cannot blame you all for feeling cheated and defrauded. According to the politics and the ruling party Immigration will change all the time, new rules will be introduced and old laws will be taken off.
So you can’t rely on old ways , laws regulations and demand for residency in the country.
Next year major change will happen in the country with Federal Elections so it is going to be more tough than ever.

You failed to mention one very critical point - that these students are all here as TEMPORARY residents. When they applied for their study permit, they had to prove to IRCC that they would return to their home country upon the completion of their studies/work permit. From a legal standpoint, Canada is well within its rights to remove students once they finish their studies. Canada has no obligation to help them get a PR. The students just assumed that they would get PR because others in the past got it due to lenient policies. The canadian government made no such promise. It was their own mistake for assuming that PR would be guaranteed. As such, these protesters do not have any valid legal arguments. They are just protesting because they think that public support may help pressure the government to change the polices. I don’t see that happening. The majority of Canadians will not support these students because the 5-10% bad apples have managed to piss everyone off with their behaviour over the last few years.

Sooner or later, this would have happened. I respect this decision taken by Canadian goverment. I had been an international student long ago in Australia, when i got my PR on my education bases, i saw some menial jobs holder were getting deported since their main intention was to stay and not improve their skills and contribute to the nation. Then the trend of Australia reduced and Canada rose, I am in India now and see many students who do not even deserve to be in foreign applying to go there desperately. They do not go to study, but jsut to get PR somehow and then spoil the living community there be it their own countrymen. Such a shame!!! Such students become red-neck for those who genuinely deserve to live there. People who don't even know how to speak English go to Canada, one way or the other. In india, who says there is no money to be earned? I have come back to India and happily living in my home state earning and satisfied due to the continuous study and improving my skills. I am happily living from the past 7 years. Study and settle anywhere in world, but if your intention is PR only then its better not to protest and let live those who deserve to be there.

Assalamualaikum Insha'a Allah more of them. Overstaying should be instant deportation. If they have the skills qualified to get PR then, we welcome them with open arms. I feel bad for these international students came under the false pretense of coming as a student for backdoor immigration. Government is going to give them a reality check.

time bound PR acceptance or rejection should be thr from application date by using AI/ML incase of manpower shortage. Govt should do compulsory at least 1 lakh per year lucky draw among the eligible people at the start of each FY.

Try to understand first, when you are coming to Canada or Australia or any other country as an international Student …
YOU ARE COMING FOR STUDIES !!! that’s what you mentioned in written in application form you have sufficient funds and after finish your studies you will go back !
it used to be easy way to get PR but not any more ..
so legally you cant claim PR

Not every international student wrote on their SOP that they will return back to their home country after studies..I never wrote that assurance bcz I was reasonable in my decision of getting further education based on my credentials. Ab to PR bhi hoo..

I am an immigrant who has lived in Canada for almost 24 years. It was a wonderful country that we enjoyed when we arrived here. It has suddenly changed totally in the last few years, resembling an Indian area. When we arrived here, we accepted and loved Canadian culture, from which we learned a great deal. Now, Indians want to bring their culture to this country and be proud of doing all those nasty things openly such as making noise on public places, making videos of minor girls, breaking traffic rules even they don't care when crossing the road from non signals areas, slowing down traffic and risking other lives. Canadian-born children are unemployed; even after completing a university degree, they are unable to obtain positions at Canadian Tire or Walmart since these jobs are all dominated by Indian students, and one student is doing at least 2-3 jobs. In that way, one Indian student is essentially displacing three Canadian-born students from their professions. Trudeau and his advisors are completely ignorant; they have damaged this country, actually destroyed this beautiful, peaceful, and resourceful country. Everything is short here now, even roads, buildings, schools, parks, beaches, groceries, etc.

I don't think they get to blame the govt for their policy, PGWP ext was an exception and it was a temp policy due to external factors like covid and backlog in PR, their is no way they will acknowledge the protest. The Canadian dream sold to you was possible few years back and immigration making money by still selling you the same dream, onus is on you.

In every country, rules change 🤝 according to there needs and decisions these students they signed up in their application s that after the end of their studies they will go back canada did not promise these students that in the end of there study they will get PR .was student . This was students delusional thoughts that they will get PR at the end of their study
