The AH-64 was first deployed in 1986 and some 2'400 have been delivered. The AH-64D served as the backbone of the U.S. Army attack helicopter force since 2003. Based on the AH-64A, the “Delta” version is a tandem-crewed helicopter with the pilot in the back seat and the co-pilot/gunner (CP/G) in the front. Armed with a 30mm Chain Gun under the nose, Hellfire missiles and 2.75” rockets on the stub wings.
Just like the Cold Waters videos, as a blind person the commentary and superb sound effects allow me to really enjoy this. The AH-64 is an awesome weapons platform!

Ah the Jane’s Longbow 2 menu music. Good intro BGM… I remember playing that game a fair bit, although I didn’t have a stick then so I had to play with keyboard, which made it difficult.
Also makes me wish that there was a game that modeled the UH-60 and OH-58s today... I liked flying out the Kiowa Warrior a lot more than the Apache.
OH-58 is coming to DCS soon.

@@fndjfgsdk a civilian being hit in a legitimate attack is not a war crime, that is collateral damage. Civilians being targeted and killed IS a war crime.
This is a small but important distinction for soldiers. For the civilians involved the difference is immaterial.

@@Silverhks The problem is that ‘legitimate attack’ is subjective. Putin consider invading Ukraine a legitimate attack.
@@fastica no it isn't. It is specifically spelled out in international law. It has to do with an individual's actions during a time of war.
It doesn't apply to the reasons or declaration of war. Therefore, the act of Russia's invasion doesn't qualify. What the soldiers have done or the leadership has directed to be done could be subject to international criminal review.
When you shoot HF always make your target as BIG as you can in the TADS FOV. FLIR ZOOM FOV at is good, but if you are shooting day fire using DTV NARROW or ZOOM FOV. You will improve your chances of hitting the target by keeping laser energy on target. Make sure you are continuously lasing through the whole engagement. I noticed your was off and on which reduces Ph (Probability of Hit).

Why do Apache helicopter tail rotors have an x shape rather than a cross?
It has to do with diminishing noise caused by the tail. The largest source of noise in a helicopter is the interaction between the main blades and the tail rotor. If you put the tail in a X, it does not enter in phase with the main rotors, thus reducing noise and being effective anti torque device at the same time.
