I heard DJI osmo mobile series aren't really compatible with S22 ULTRA and their apps don't support 4k recording is it true? I will choose Zhiyun if it works better with Android.
I have to admit the magnet on the OM4 seemed a good thing especially since I'd like to film some B-Roll of stuff on my lunch hour at work when time is limited, but the Q3 just seems SO much cheaper and such a better deal now - £130 for the OM4 vs £85 for the Q3. Seems a bit of a no-brainer, especially since this will be my first smartphone gimbal and I don't wanna break the bank

I needed to take pictures from angles facing the ground/surface/downwards. Q2: Yaw (Pan): 360° Roll: 265° Pitch (Tilt): 305° Q3: Yaw (Pan): 300° Pitch (Tilt): -260 to 80° Roll: -170 to 170° It would be interesting you focus on this issue in the video and demonstrate this difference more accurately, if possible...

You mention (I think, in this video) that the Zhiyun Smooth Q3 can be used with FiLMiC, but I wrote to them directly and they stated it is not currently among the compatible gimbals, but might be in the future. Another point you should ad to the comparison is if you can go from normal to underslung with the zhiyun as the Q2 couldn't do that. Om4 doesn't look like it can do it without twisting awkwardly.
Are you using a iPhone 12 Pro or 12 Pro Max? I just purchased a Pro Max and quickly took it back for a 12 Pro because I was afraid of weight (and width) on a gimbal. I also just bought a OM4. Have used gimbals on larger cameras before and for what I wanted, this looks like the thing to own. I also already have Filmic Pro (and subscribed to your class just today) Thanks!

No point in building a decent gimbal/phone partnership and then using the default app. Go for Filmic Pro (or similar) to get the best out of your setup.

I like the Smooth Q3 for the mode button. But those small gimbals don't have enough powerful motors when you use big iPhone like the 13 Pro Max . I use my old Zhiyun Crane 2 instead . My iPhone with extra weights do the job . It's heavier but effective . I use my old DJI Osmo 2 to make moving time laps

Nice video there and I've became your new subscriber! 💪 You've mentioned @ 2:28 about the up and down movement and the micro jitters...That was exactly what happened when I filmed with my DJI Osmo Pocket. It's a wonderful tool with everything I need but the up and down blobbing movement makes me go crazy when watching my own videos...wonder if there is any way around it, perhaps with an attachment onto the Zhiyun smooth Q3 / DJI OM 4 perhaps?! 😅 Am currently looking into the possibility of doing smartphone filming instead and hence ending up here. Hello, I really appreciate what you're doing here. I'm currently using OM3 in shooting my car reviews, but it's giving me hard times since I switched to S21 Ultra. It can't handle the weight of the phone plus a Boya wireless USB-C microphone for more than 20 minutes, it overheats and keeps falling. Does any gimbal of these do a better job with such a heavy phone and setup? If not, do you recommend any other gimbal? Thanks! 🙂

I am not sure i understand the om4 balancing tech. How does the magnetic clamp provide perfect balancing? Traditionaly i have had to move the phone around on any gimbal to get it balanced. Can you explain how it works.

Im android user, and I saw Zhiyun Q3 app have some limitations for android, such as we cant record 4K 60fps. Is it a huge different if Im not using the app? Could you comment which one may be best and have or lose features when using a big Android phone....I found OM4 doesn't mount up this phone well. Also would you prefer one over the other if I'd be switching back on forth with an iPhoneXR. If I added Filmic would this be sufficient to narrow the disadvantages of using Android primarily. I appreciate your efforts and will be joining SMP soon....so as a beginner I can hit the road running. For now I need to decide whether to return the OM4 and buy the Q3 instead.
Tough question. I never had any issues with the clamp. Do you use a case? The OM4 is a fantastic gimbal, so is the Q3, I think you can‘t really go wrong with any of them
Thanks for the respose. OM4 definitely won't fit with the case....doesn't fit well without it either....the shape of the phone's edge doesn't fit the shape of the clamp. Wants to pop off.... Moto G 2021. I appreciate the encouragement. I'll let you know if I find the Q3 better for my purpose.
Hi, thanks for the review. Just one important point at the end of the video when you mention filmic-pro, the Q3 is not compatible at all, at least on my phone ,Xiaomi note 8. I got the om4 & was about to return it but the Q3 does not work at all with filmic pro so I am changing my mind.

depends on the phone and the dongle.. with the small adapter from lightning to 3,5mm headphone jack it worked.. but its not great, because you always have to hold the wireless audio in your hand

Great gimbal, but returned it, just because you have to balance it in 2 axes. A bit troublesome.

You can use the gimbal with every app. Maybe you have to press record on the phone, but other than that? Sure it works

Tough one.. with the case none of the gimbals will work.. without a case, both should be more or less fine
I recommend Q3 + Iphone 13 Pro Max = Results are just perfect! + it costs me 89€ cheaper and easy to hold.

For those super heavy setups I would consider getting a 'proper' Camera gimbal.. phone gimbals are made for carrying phones withouth any accessoires

I would never use a gimbal with a case on my phone. I'd go with the OM4 probbaly

basically it compensated the lack of balance trough stronger motors. You can still slide the clamp up and down a little bit

Could you comment which one may be best and have or lose features when using a big Android phone....I found OM4 doesn't mount up this phone well. Also would you prefer one over the other if I'd be switching back on forth with an iPhoneXR. If I added Filmic would this be sufficient to narrow the disadvantages of using Android primarily. I appreciate your efforts and will be joining SMP soon....so as a beginner I can hit the road running. For now I need to decide whether to return the OM4 and buy the Q3 instead.
Tough question. I never had any issues with the clamp. Do you use a case? The OM4 is a fantastic gimbal, so is the Q3, I think you can‘t really go wrong with any of them
Thanks for the respose. OM4 definitely won't fit with the case....doesn't fit well without it either....the shape of the phone's edge doesn't fit the shape of the clamp. Wants to pop off.... Moto G 2021. I appreciate the encouragement. I'll let you know if I find the Q3 better for my purpose.
@@schleutker have you tried putting the sticky clamp onto your case? so that you just have this magnetic circle without the clamp?

Hi, thanks for the review. Just one important point at the end of the video when you mention filmic-pro, the Q3 is not compatible at all, at least on my phone ,Xiaomi note 8. I got the om4 & was about to return it but the Q3 does not work at all with filmic pro so I am changing my mind.

You need to use your phone 'naked' for sure, without any accesoires.. and then I would maybe go with the oM4 because of the slightly higher payload

depends on the phone and the dongle.. with the small adapter from lightning to 3,5mm headphone jack it worked.. but its not great, because you always have to hold the wireless audio in your hand

It appears that an iPhone 12 Pro Max + LightChaser Pro case + CP/NVD filters. + Balance Weight if necessary, would far exceed the max payload of the Q3??????

Dear, my gimble smooth Q3 shuts off in the middle of the shoot every after few seconds however my battery is full. I am using the Samsung galaxy note 9 with it.
