  • Hey, I'm Shivani!
    Hope you enjoy this video, the clips are mostly portrait because they are all from my camera roll (taken well before I thought of making a youtube channel!) I hope this is useful for some people, or at least an interesting insight! I stayed in Chamberlain Tower on the Vale village and I loved it! :)

    I just received my offer today, and am looking at chamberlain block as a possible accommodation option. If I were to choose chamberlain would it be random whether or not you get put in the tower or the other buildings. Or can you request to be in one specific building?

      Hey I'm so sorry I've only just seen this. It is random allocation as to whether you are in the tower or not. Having said that, when I was given the tower I rang up to ask which floor I was on, I was given a lower floor and asked if I could be moved to a higher floor. They did that for me quite happily! So maybe you could find out where you've been placed and ask to switch? But I'm not 100% sure whether it would be possible to move from a block to the tower or vice versa

      Hey- sorry for the late response! It is on a slight slope but it isn't something I even think about when I think back to living in Chamberlain😅 I really wouldn't let that influence whether you choose it or not!! Xx

    Is this a standard room for students at the university if Birmingham or is this an en suite room ?

    • @LifewithShivani
      @LifewithShivani  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! There are a number of different accommodations at the university of birmingham, I stayed in one called 'Chamberlain' (located on the Vale, a place where they have lots of first year accommodation). In Chamberlain, you pay for an en suite room. There are other accommodations where you do not have an en suite. It depends on which accommodation you choose to live in :)

    Which accomodation is the best in Birmingham, and which one is the safest ?

    • @LifewithShivani
      @LifewithShivani  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Different accomodations are different prices, so it's difficult to say which one is the "best".
      It depends whether you want to be catered or self catered, have an ensuite or shared bathroom etc. So it depends on the person. This is chamberlain, it's the most expensive accommodation, catered and en suite! I would definitely recommend applying to live in an accommodation on The Vale as it's a really nice environment there.
      Here's a list of all of the acomoddaitons available:

      And would you say living in the Vale is safer than the Selly Oak?

    How far is Chamberlain from the main campus??

    • @LifewithShivani
      @LifewithShivani  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd say it's about a 15 to 20 minute walk!! Depending on your pace. But all accomodation on the Vale are around a 15 minute walk :)

    • @LifewithShivani
      @LifewithShivani  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! I found it okay- there is a big drawer under the bed, the cupboard is big enough to fit lots of clothes! And then I bought plastic boxes to store stuff under my desk (like my shoes), because there's a lot of room under there! X

      Hey! This accomodation (Chamberlain) is actually the most expensive one, but it is catered. It's £203 a week (£8446 for the whole year). There is a range of prices depending on which accommodation you choose! Here is a link to info on them www.birmingham.ac.uk/study/accommodation/UG-accommodation/index.aspx

      Life with Shivani hey just wondering what’s the area in Selly oak like? I’ve been looking at the accommodation there and really liked it but apparently it’s not very safe or good for social life? Please help me out xx

    • @LifewithShivani
      @LifewithShivani  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vic8282 hello I'm so sorry I never saw this!! Of course most first year accomodation is on The Vale so you may have heard that it's more social there; but you'll still make friends in your halls just like on the Vale! I know people who were in first year accom in selly and they were all pretty happy! So it's what you make of it really. I lived in Selly last year in a student accomodation and will be back next month (from my year abroad)- you do have to be a little more careful living there as it is a little on the less safe side, but just be sensible and stick with your mates at night time and you'll be fine! Let me know if you have any other questions xx
