Career Intel Officer Malcolm Nance, who first disclosed that Russia hacked the 2016 election, makes the case that Donald Trump has been a Russian asset for decades. Scary, but fun!
With a cast of characters that include such lowlifes as Roger Stone and Paul Manafort, Nance tells us how Putin, Russian Intelligence, and Billionaire Oligarchs captured Donald Trump and warns that this may be our nation’s last election.

It is by design. Why does our country pretty much keep logic locked behind the paywall of universities, when such a skillset is necessary for practically everything? The basics should be taught in middle schools!! And then there should be a slightly harder class or two in high school!!! My theory is that certain people learn the fallacies, as I did -- but they do it as a way to PERSUADE rather than how to think validly by not using fallacious arguments.

DegenerateToo: They have been working to "uneducate" people for years by defunding education, closing schools, thereby making classes too large for anyone to learn in, and then, "W" decided to make education even less effective by removing funding from "failing" schools (interestingly always in minority areas) by making unending testing the norm. That meant teachers spent all their time coaching kids to pass tests (my niece complained constantly about not having time to actually teach anything) that were used to decide who got funded. All you have to do is look at the writing/language skills of so many people who make public comments to realize that the goal of making Americans stupid has been met. And then there is comprehension, which again it appears many people don't have to any extent at all. We need to invest in teachers, remove funding testing and get administrators and government out of education, except to fund. I'm also in favor of standardized education, so a child moving from Georgia to California or vice versa doesn't come in to a curriculum they are not ready for, or have already completed.

@@shanejohns7901 It’s because it benefits the controlers to keep people dumb. The last thing politicians want is an educated population that can question; then they might figure out what the politicians are up to. Thank you Al Franken and Malcolm Nance, very informative and needed conversation. Can I suggest a word/term modification like Malcolm did with "crazy" . Stop calling this insane grouping "tribalism" start referring it to as it is Cultism. I am a member of a federally recognized "Tribe" and am bothered by another cut on us. Truth is calling this political grouping a "CULT" is more accurate.

I actually prefer the word Tribe to the word Cult. Tribe comes first - cult second.
In running for President, at his rallies, Trump was searching for the key to the nomination and ultimately to the presidency. In front of his crowds, he pushed every mental button he could think of. Some buttons got no reactions while other buttons stirred up colossal roars.
So our very stable and creative "genius" discovered what it is to lead a crowd by any means necessary and effective. Dirty tricks work best. Trump discovered cultism by himself and all on his own. He had realised his dream. 😁
One guy's dream can be other people's nightmare.

@@jog3131 - Please accept my apologies for offending you.
I honor your membership in a Federally Recognised North American Tribe.
I hoped that you would take no offense. I had figured that the word *tribe" would have entered the the English language from an earlier European, as opposed to having entered from a native North American language.
      Merriam-Webster -
"Tribe: a political division of the Roman people originally representing one of the three original tribes of ancient Rome" .
      From Wikipedia:
"Known as the three Romulean tribes, these first tribes have often been supposed to represent the major ethnic groups of early Rome: the Ramnes representing Rome's Latin population; the Tities representing the Sabines; and the Luceres probably representing the Etruscans. indeed the names, if not the ethnic character, of all three of the Romulean tribes appear to be Etruscan."
So, 2000 years later, when the English came to North America, they might have viewed the native American nations as distinct and applied the name "tribe" to each of these nations. Then after the USA was formed and the "white folks/Europeans" moved westward while plundering, killing and displacing the people of the native nations, they occupied and stole the land from underneath those nations and their peoples.
And after several waves of pushing these Nations westward while cyclically signing successive treaties and granting territories only to break the treaties, Congress in its "grace, generosity and wisdom" finally granted Federally Recognised Tribe status, with ownership of the land and territories.
That brings us to the present where the federal government is confiscating resource-rich parts and selling those lands back to the well-connected rich folks and corporations. Then the corporations plunder and pollute what they have just stolen.

I would like to suggest a fantastic video filmed at a conference on the Lummi Nation in July 2019. Jewell James and Oren Lyons do a fantastic job of explaining the history and significance of American Indian Law based on our Treaties.
(YT search "Oren Lyons at Lummi with Tom Sampson, Jewell James, Jay Julius & Jill MacIntyre Witt" th-cam.com/video/-snsB_robXA/w-d-xo.html )
I and many others do not call ourselves "Native Americans" for legal reasons.
We prefer our Tribal name 1st and American Indian 2nd- due to the protection of our Treaty Rights. Anyone born here can say they are "Native" American- words have power especially in Fed Court.
Indigenous American is a better word choice. There are over 560 Federally Recognized American Indian Tribes in the USA, close to 2k in Canada.

``The state of living in a tribe is tribalism. This word is also used to describe situations where people are overly loyal to their own group. For example, a newspaper editorial might complain about tribalism in American politics.
This word was exclusively used to describe aspects of living in a traditional tribe until the mid-20th century, when it came to have a more derogatory meaning. Today, tribalism is often seen as putting one's own group above every other consideration, including kindness or justice. Tribalism can lead to bigotry and racism and, when taken to extremes, even war.``
It's a cult of personality that has merged with tribalism.

I've always believed that humor, and the appreciation of same, is an indicator of intelligence. trumpy apparently has no appreciation of the arts or humor. He's not intelligent, but savvy and venal. I've appreciated Franken's humor and insight since his SNL days. And, I've been following Nance since his first book. I completely agree about the tribalism! trumpy has enabled the worst of us to openly hate anyone smarter than they are! Oh yeah, also been a fan of Leo Kottke since the 70's...great choice in music.

"This is now the decade of me, Al Franken." I was 18, and this was one of the funniest things I'd ever seen for reasons that I hadn't even learned about yet, like linguistics, semantics, and semiotics, so I didn't have the "Speechcraft" to explain to others why it moved me so.
But now, I'm imagining Trump saw it too. And given his simplified, completely predictable thought patterns, it's clear that he thought, "You know, given how stupid enough Americans are, that could actually work."
On my honor, I can't blame you. It was a great joke, arguably da Vinci level of artistry, and if our art must inevitably lead to our destruction, so be it. Also, Tim Robbins was in that horrifically prescient film "Bob Roberts," must we blame him too? How about Shatner, (The Stranger) or freakin' Andy Griffith (A Face In The Crowd)? (Griffith made a fine screen villian, btw, look at Savages, 1974.)

Anyone can easily make that case. It would be difficult to argue Trump isn't. The question is whether Trump knows he is a Russian asset or even cares. I doubt he thinks about it at all. He doesn't care about such things or countries in general.
