I have one of these and its terrific, other great Kodaks were the P880 and P712 (not the P850) total mindblowing bargains on Ebay now, good even by todays standards with EVFs, the P880 has a 24mm wide end manual zoom and the P712 has an F2.8-F3.7 12x optical, both terrific cameras and were overlooked at the time

so glad they are battery operated ..becuase ill we gotta do is slap in some new batteries and it works...having a build in battery would suck ..due to degradation

True. When I used this camera everyday, I liked that you could pop into any store and buy fresh batteries. But they dont last very long. To get decent life you need disposible lithium batteries which are not cheap.
      Thanks for watching.

Nice condition for the camera. I bought mine from eBay in 2012 and it worked great. But for the past year or so the dial wouldn't work properly and got its lcd screen faulty.. It is at a service shop for the past month and the camera guy couldn't get spares..😢

Sorry to hear that. Repairing old cameras is a lost art. Nowadays you have to just accept that it’s gone and buy another one. And hope it continues to work.
      Thanks for watching.

I must just disagree on your closing comments though, I have a Z990 and its good but suffers from the issues you mentioned, image quality and lens are great and I do really like it. BUT I also have a Pixpro AZ526, one of the new badged Kodaks and overall it is a better camera than the Z990. It is much faster, the OIS is more effective, it has a 52X optical zoom and the image quality is really good, the lens is also great, AF and AE are spot on too, colours and contrast are really pleasing so although it is built to a price, the 16mp BSI CMOS sensor and lens are excellent, it also has wireless and can be controlled remotely on a phone when on a tripod, I own 17 Kodaks and the AZ526 (it has an EVF) is probably the most capable, so not all the new "Kodaks" are junk , oh and it has USB charging which I find way more convenient than the Z990s 4xAA batteries

Thanks for your input. Perhaps they are now sourcing from a higher quality than before. Last time I looked the quality was very poor. I am now tempted to get a newer Kodak and test it to see for myself. Thanks again.

@@WaybackRewind I think you might be surprised, the AZ528 that replaced the 526 is now unfortunately the same camera but with no EVF (GRRRRRR!!) I cant comment on the 20mp 60x zoom and they make a 90X zoom, I dont know if they are as good (possibly not), I have heard mixed reports, but if you can track down the 16mp AZ526 its really impressive, I bought mine cheap but having owned it for a while now I would willingly have paid far more, They are manufactured now bu Asia Optical a company that did manufacture for Kodak in the day, if you can live without an EVF, the 528 is just as good but no EVF with that massive zoom ?? unless of course its really cheap

How does a company that rules photography give away the game and just misses out on Digital. They already had Digital camera invented, but were dead at the switch. Really dumb. Another reason Corporations can't see the forest for the trees.

I will do a whole video on the history of Kodak, but most pundits get it all wrong.
Kodak invented the digital camera, yes. But at their heart they were a chemical company.
I made Kodak 55 developer when I was there mixing chemicals. They had tens of thousands of chemists and chemical technicians. They had no expertise in digital cameras. It was inevitable for them to fail once digital took over.
All the digital cameras were made by someone else for Kodak.
In hindsight they should have embraced the chemicals and become a chemical company. Instead, they sold off Eastman Chemicals and chased a digital market in a race they had no chance of winning.
      Thanks for watching.

While that is true, they could have OEM through another vendor, as they most likely did with their office products like their copiers for instance.

@@xray111xxx true and they did that but there is little profit in putting your name on imported cameras when you employ 100,000 chemical engineers and chemical technicians. Their profit always was in the film. When film died Kodak's demise was written in stone. There was no way to avoid it.

In the alternate history that I imagine, Kodak should have pivoted towards making the medium and large format more mainstream before the digital age swept them over. Up til recently, these formats' cameras felt like bellows and crankshaft operated, a more modern SLR design could have caught on when APS-C DSLR are still pricey.
Incidentally if I'm not mistaken, this model has Kodak's first and possibly only film simulation mode of their own Kodak films. Don't remember it when using the camera then but stumbled upon the fact on the Net.
